Why would you ever need to run more than 42psi in a 245/45/18 tire?

thats what im thinking...i live in south texas so it gets around a 100 everyday and the highest i see me tire pressure go is 39/40. and an average cooler day it sits around 35/36. what would be the point of over pressuring the tire

^^^Some track tires like alot of pressure, ~40 cold for some of em.

My street tires were 34 cold and set the high alarm off on the track with ~90* ambient temps.

well, i for one have aftermarket wheels with OEM tpms sensors. i run at 40psi all around, and when they get hot and pass 42 psi, it gets kind of annoying as they each individually set off at different times.

i had a sensor bust up on me and had to get a new one at the dealer, requiring me to have it reprogrammed. i asked them to raise that threshold and they said no.

I have another set of wheels and tires without the tpms sensors. When I track the car, I take the stock wheels off, put them behind the house and install the other wheels. (about 40 feet away) When I start the car, it remembers what the sensors were when I took off the other wheels and it never changes.

I run 40psi in my V2 but I am running a low profile, 255x30x20 and 305x25x20. They get between 42-44 in the texas heat.

My buddy tried to raise the threshold on my V with his Tech 2 and it was not possible. Only thing that is possible is switching the tps system off.

i was wondering about this too.

I keep mine around 38 cold, but here in vergas it gets HOT, so they will creep up to 42... the buzzer is freaking annoying.

Anyone tried HP tuners?

These cars (including the 2004 race car) have turn in understeer. When I autocross the car I start the at fronts at 37 cold. (with the Hoosier’s) After one lap the fronts are past 40. I typically have to adjust them after every run. When the pressure gets above 42, I can’t get the car to turn in at an autocross, although eveyone’s driving style is different and high speed turn in may be a different story. I have yet to get in on a Track day here in CA.

I love the way this car rotates through turns above 40 mph.

I must be missing something. How can anyone run over 35PSI in these tires. I have mine at the recommended 30PSI and after 2 track sessions they are bonging like MFers at 43PSI. Guys with big rims and skinny side walls I can see, but everyone else with the stock wheel/tire size puzzles me. If I run my Yoko AD08s above 32PSI on the street they ride like wagon wheels. I think Jerry is more concerned with the TPM bonger going off on the track, which is my problem as well, and is very annoying.

sorry I should have included that in my orig posting...
I sont want to have the warning "bong" go off as my first response is to slow down....I would would to have the oil temp or water temp blong -- that is cause to slow down....
the tires says on them max psi is 50 so....48psi limit is good for me...

So, this begs the question. Does your warning 'sound-off' at 44psi?
And if it does not, then what is the threshold of the V2 alarm and is it the same technology as the V1 and is either subject to change with by way of reprogramming.?? EWILL WHERE ARE YOU?

I have not received a warning and I have hit 45 a few times. I am pretty sure it is a TPS sensor limitation and not something in the tune. The only way I know is to hook a tech II and relearn the sensors for higher pressures. I believe everything exists in the sensors so the car just listens to them and the sensors send the alarms.

I think you may have somethin here! Maybe someone can buy new V2 TPS sensors, and try them on the V1??
