Default Stopping with HPS pads

I just changed the pads on my V and breaking has noticeably changed. I swapped out the worn brembo pads with some new HPS pads. I know they aren't the best as far as stopping power goes, but I have chrome rims and needed low dust. Can anyone tell me if they is a break in period on these pads? Or am i just going to have to adjust my driving habits? Thanks

Which HPS pad did you get? I've got HP Plus pads on my V and they're fantastic. Lots of dust, though.

GeauxCTS,

If the pads were bedded properly, there will not be any break in period.

HPS pads up front will give you a noticeable decrease in stopping power. And a noticeable decrease in dusting.

Mercutio,

HPS pads are not HP+ take a look at the part numbers on ctsvparts.com

Like rjoffe said, the hps are about even with the stock pads but with much less dust. I'm actually running the HP+ up front and the hps in the rear, works great and stops much better. Sounds like they aren't bedded correctly if you need to ask.

My mistake. For some reason I read "Hawk" instead of "HPS."

I went from stock to HPS a few years ago. I couldn't tell you a difference. Get SS brake lines.... Best of both worlds, low dust and better pedal feel.

I'm putting HPS pads on with new MAPerformance rotors. I'll post once they are installed. Should be done Wed-Thur.

Id rather have stopping power over worrying about dust... ran hps front and rear wasn't bad, now hp+ front and hps rear and is better, ill switch to hp+ all corners next time with new stoptech rotors and lines, then all should be well! Or maybe a carbotech pad

I would disagree. The brakes on the V are much better than most cars i have owned so a little bit less stopping power is cool with me. I try to drive with plenty of room between me and the car in front. I drive my car 100 miles a day, 40% of that is stop and go traffic. I want(corrected by raven154) as little dust as possible.

A need and want are two different things! You need to stop! You dont need clean wheels!

I have the HPS pads and it stops just fine for daily driving...better than most on the road. My chrome wheels stay real clean. My only complaint is the squeaking at low speeds. Driving me nuts. Started doing it after 2500 miles or so.

I hope your head is always up and foot always ready, I also travel 100+ miles a day, and never know if and when what may run out in front of you or some ******* miss a stop sign... I know the v will out stop most cars and I know I could out stop a few lambo owners in a vw if need be! So I want the best braking possible and will clean my wheels when I have time! Lol
