Default any difference - 2006 or 2007???

I am looking for a 2007 CTS-V , I figure this year has the least bugs and problems of any first gen V. I found a 2006 with the special FG2 suspension.. and was wondering if there are any differences with the 2006 - 2007. Is a 2007 any better, or the same stuff?

What year did the diff get upgraded and 'fixed'? I think I read someplace that it was 2006.

Diff was upgraded in 2006. I don't know if there are any differences from 06 to 07, I've been looking that up as well for the exact same reason as you.

as far as I know the 06-07 are identical.
Edit: you got me curious so I just checked my RPO codes and my 06 is also an FG2 car

fg2 is one of the very fews options on the V and was just better shocks.

06-07 are absolutely identical.....only difference between the 04-05/06-07 are the upgraded diff(which most 04-05 have had replaced under warranty), and radio buttons on the steering wheel for the 06-07....+ the LS2 onbviously.

Sweet, good to know. My decision between an 06 and 07 will be entirely based on price+mileage+condition+mods (if any) and I'll leave the year out. Obviously if everything else is the same I will get an 07 just to have the warranty for another year.

they did offer thunder grey in only 2007 and is sick looking(dark shadow greyish). very rare color so you prolly wont come across one.

I live in west Texas as well... with a black on black car. Thank GOD for covered parking. At work I'm screwed though. I make do with maximum legal tint(30% sides, 5% back), keeping my windows and sunroof cracked, and a shade in the front window.

You cant go wrong with a LS2 V. The 2007 is special because they made the least amount out of any year...under 1000 were produced in 2007.

This is my plan. Max tint, covered parking at work, crack the windows when it is parked. We've already hit 110 here this year and when I visited last August it was 115. I'm pretty used to the ridiculous interior temps because my Jeep's A/C is broken right now and that's my DD.

I really want the LS2 for the bigger bore, and they came with the stronger rear so that's a big plus. The upside to the LS2 is that if I want to do H/C, I can use LS3/L92 heads and the new FAST LSXR

And I've been toying with the idea of stroking it and topping off the LS3/L92 heads with a blower

My question is this: If I did a 402 or 427 LS2 block with LS3/L92 heads and topped it with a Kenne Bell 3.6LC or a TVS2300, will it fit? Obviously the only variable it the supercharger height, but I never hear anything about gen 1 Vs with anything other than MP112s (LOTS) and 122s (1).
