Default New owner of a 2007 CTS-V

Hey guys,

I just purchased an 07 CTS-V. It was a highway car so its got some miles on it, but I got it for a great deal.

Anyways, Im new to the LS2 and what not. Not looking to drag race it, but I do want to give a bit more kick.

Any suggestions.

I am coming out of a 450 RWHP '01 Trans Am (still have it). I want a better sounding exhaust... definately DO NOT want anything like my Loudmouth. Need this one a bit quieter.

welcome.

i am sitting at 357/370 to the wheel, and my mod list is in my tread called Dyno Run. the car is very quiet at cruising speed, but sounds very nice when i am banging through the gears. to get to 450, you will be looking at some work, but even at 357/370 the car will hs some great pick up.

Thanks.

Yeah, I do not want 450 RWHP to the ground.... yet. This car will be my daily driver and I will take out clients in it.

I will check out your thread.

On my 06, the 2 in/2 out muffler was removed and straight pipes put in their place.
The resonators at the rear were removed and a pair of Flowmasters were welded in.

Deep, throaty rumble. No annoying resonance like I had with LTs in my old TA street car.

Having said all that, I am considering installing an "X" where the muffler used to be.

that middle "muffler" is a resonator, and it is connected from the factory side to side (i believe it is basically an X), you have lost power by putting straight pipes in there, you want an X in there. It will make the exhaust flow better (...in the simplest terms)

whack the mufflers off and weld in new pipes with tips. Perfect sound for the least money. The factory resonator does a great job eliminating drone.

Agreed.....I still have a little drone around 2k but everytime I hear it I just think about the money I would've wasted on a full exhaust

ya, in my car I have the drone from around 1500-2000, but under or over that nothing, I have put new mufflers on it, and put an xpipe in there....I would be thrilled if I could get rid of the drone, but not sure if I want to take the time and money to do it

that is exactly what i did and couldnt be happier. I used 05-06 gto tips and they filled the bumper cut outs nicely.

Congtrats!! Welcome to the club. These guys are great fun and help. What color combo did you get? I think we are going to try and organize another presence for Houston Cars & Coffee in Oct or Nov.

Then do what I did, I went with Pacesetter headers and cutout's right before the resonator. Left the stock catback so it's quiet when i want and loud when i want.
