Default Testing the new GoPro - Muffler Delete in-car video

I got a GoPro HD Motorsports camera, decided to test it out on the CTS-V. I did a before and after of the in-car acceleration from stock to muffler delete. No other mods on the car during the vids other than Katech short shifter

Nice video.

How much of a difference does the muffler delete make for slower driving?

Any drone?

How much louder is the car cruising on the highway?

It has maybe just a little bit of drone at cruise, but thats just me used to it being absolutely SILENT with the stock setup. The sound absolutely turns heads right between 2k and 3k rpm slowly accelerating.

I think the sweet spot for the highway is right around 1,900 rpms

I have the muffler delete with Random Tech high flow cats ($750 ). They made the muffler delete sound awesome. Added a lot more volume and about 10 rwhp. I might be switching to Kooks LT though after hearing Itsslow's car. The factory resonator sounds so good by itself. Most dont know it is basically an x-pipe with packing inside and a perforated core similiar to a bullet muffler.

Question for all of you. Do you guys have a shop cut the mufflers off, and install straight piping. Or, do you remove the packing from within drilling the small holes and removing the packing.

I have to agree....I didn't realilze how quiet the stock exhaust was. I LOVE the sound from the muffler delete..and the $$ I have in it. I do have a little pop between 1-2 and 2-3 when I get down on it.

Oh yeah, I've noticed that as well. Here's a video with the pop from 2nd to 3rd (same WOT pull as the in-car vid, buddy filming from outside). You can hear him say 'damn' . lol

yeah the stock resonator relly cleans up the sound and takes out the raspiness.

smb- do you shift like that all the time? just curious.

Id like to see a video on a track from that mount location.

I whacked my mufflers early last year and loved it...with the windows down, the sound is awesome all the way to redlineI think I dropped to 11 mpg avg. When it got cold and I had to roll the windows up, the drone, especially at highway speeds, ended up annoying me too much so I got them welded back in. I remember it being night and day when I drove away. The stock mufflers really do a good job.

one of our VPs thought I was hauling *** in the parking lot one morning and yelled at me to slow down...I was only doing 15 or so lol! he thought it was funny after the fact.

next step for me is cutout(s)...for times when I want it loud. Don't get me wrong I love the sound of a good exhaust, but I also love that I can still cruise on the highway at a nice decibel. you know, caddy style...

the exhausts sound(popping) will clean up a bit with a good tune btw. I know mine sounded different after it was tuned for the long tubes and cam.

Haha no, I do not shift like that all the time, actually these two videos are probably the one times I have shifted like that.

If i shifted how I normally do during strong pulls im sure I'd get comments on how slow my shifting is, lol.

I'll upload some videos this weekend from an auto-x event I'm going to on Sunday, then I'll take it to Sebring in November.
