Need some advise
Hey guys,
New here and will most likely will be purchasing a cts-v in the near future. I have looked over a ton of threads, trying to do my home work and noticed some N/A cars. I was under the impression all the V's were supercharged.
If you guys could let me know what I want and dont want when it comes to buying one of these cars. I could also use some education on the engine combos and the years they come in.
Thanks in advance
-Kyle

I have been looking at 04's but may start looking at other options.
So what's the story with the STS-V's?
Thanks for you replies

STS-V has a 4.4L S/C Northstar V8 with 469 hp and 439 lb·ft and its hooked to a 6L80 Trans. It was produced between 2006 and 2009
Its just as fast as the Gen 1 CTS-V, but weighs about 500 pounds more. Since it has a Northstar, the after market for it is even more limited then the CTS-V.
It is a little nicer on the interior then the CTS and has more room. And it has a slightly better ride quialty. Both cars are built on the Sigma platform. And for the most part, the STS-V cost (with lower miles) about $5,000 more then the CTS-V. Most STS-V I have seen with under 60,000 miles go for $25,000 to $35,000, depending on year.

The LS platform is really what even made me consider buying a cadi in the first place...so I guess the STS-V is out. Anyone have any wild custom turbo gen 1 CTS-V's on here?

Cole mentioned most of the highlights. I'll just add a few and some opinion.
They were much more expensive than the CTS-V, like $80k new. But they have depreciated a ton. For some odd reason there was no HUD offered on '06-07 cars, even though a N* equipped STS could get it.
In some ways it's like an auto V2. It is heavy and automatic, so fuel economy is atrocious. And it's more luxurious inside, with wood trim and whatnot.
It's nicer inside than a CTS V1, and better equipped than either gen CTS, with options like radar cruise control, heated steering wheels, HUD, DVD changer, heated rear seats, etc. Though the STS-V doesn't have cooled front seats, even though the STS had them available (the suede inserts is the reason, I assume).
However, they apparently have a weak diff, not unlike the V1. And they have an engine that is extremely low production, there's not gonna be a lot of aftermarket, and it will likely be expensive. They also have the same goofy 6-lug hub setup, though the stock wheels are quite attractive.
If you want more of a lux car that's fast, the STS-V would be a good choice. If you want more of a C5 'vette but with a back seat and a nicer interior, the V1 is a good choice. If you want luxury, but it to be fast as ****, the V2 is a good choice. Plus the V2 comes in auto or manual, so one is a little bit V1, and one is a little bit STS-V... I guess....
Oh, and the engine on the STS-V looks badass...
