Default Help me identify suspension on this car I am thinking of buying?

A couple of weeks ago I test drove a 2004 CTS-V with 30K miles. It rode very soft but yet it still handled very well.

Last week I test drove another CTS-V with 60K miles. It rode more harsh and I can't say it handled any better. You can see the 60K car in the link below. Does it look as if it has been lowered? I was thinking that it might possibly have the FE4 shocks but I wouldn't know from looking at it.

What is the part # for the FE2 and FE4 shocks?

Here is the car I am looking at buying.

I had them take some pics of the undercarriage. I will see if I can get them loaded up tomorrow and it might show you the part# plus I want you guys to see if you can verify what kinda exhaust its got on it. Its got LTH's, and 3" all the way back with cats. It sounds so good!

Hard to tell if its lowered. If you look at the rear shocks they have a pick border on the tag, one is straight pink and the other has stripes through it thats how you can tell what shock it is. I cant rememebr which is which but ride quality between fe4's and fg2's wouldnt be noticeable on the street and barely if any on a track.

If it has full stainless works exhaust thats a good 3k worth of exhaust.

I don't think it is lowered. $22 for an 05? You should look at buying one from a member here

that's definately not lowered. And Ive heard many people say the quality between the FE4's and FG2's is very noticeable. I cant say myself but there have been quite a few that have.

fg2 shocks have the dashed lines on the boarder of the sticker.

You guys realy think $22K is too high? I know he'll come down a little. What have you seen and what do you think the car is worth with 67K on it?

FYI: The new FE4's don't have any colored (pink non dashed) borders anymore. Not sure about the new FG2's....if you can even find them.

About a month ago I paid $24000 for a bone stock Raven Black 2006 CTS-V with 31,000 miles on it, so you can use that to judge. I even bought mine from a dealer, so it wasnt just some individual seller that needed to unload it fast.

I wish mine had a few mods done to it already, but then on the other hand, bone stock means their is nothing hiding I wished I would have known about, no shoddy work by previous owners.

I guess it depends on what you are used to. But to me, the FE4 suspension is not exactly soft. It's a little bit on the bouncy side. It's in no way harsh, but compared to a typical stock sedan it is fairly firm. The FG2's are less bouncy and firmer. I wouldn't call it harsh either, but I think I'll stick with the FE4's on a daily driver.

Paid 26 for a 2006 with 3200 miles last November. Completely stock except for lousy built in radar detector, also came with nice cover with the Caddy emblem embroidered on it.

3,200 miles or 32,000 miles? I could see 32K miles for $26K but if its the other way around then you were given that car and its irrelavant.

nope...Duc did get a 3,200 mile 06...and then found his way to mod hell...which happens to most guys in this car, myself included.
