TPMS questions. Already looked in FAQ
I understnad I can run wheels without them. And how to get the car to go about its business without them.
But my question is in the FAQ it says take the old wheels(sensors) 200-300 ft away... is this really needed?
Also once I get it to forget about the sensors can I stoer my stock wheels with winter rubber on them in the garage or will the car pick up those sensors every time its in the garage?
Trying to figure out if i need to pay for new sensors for my new wheels and have very little time to decide.

Right but if i DONT reprogram if i dont get sensors in the new wheels... and follow the FAQ... Then what happens?
I understadn that once reprogrammed itll do that. But im now worried about if i dont reprogram do to not ordering or getting new sensors.

The sensor should be paired by RFID with the car by location regardless so I don't really see an issue. But resetting all 4 corners only takes a total of maybe 10 minutes anyways.

you are NOT understanding.
Have my stock wheels with sensors in them and PAIRED!!!
Buying a second set of WHEELS. And if i DONT get sensors in them I want to know if I store my other wheels(with the sensors in them) in the garage adn therefore NEAR the car... Will I have the issue of the warning and inability to disable stability or get into competition driving mode?
Becuase if the car is still PAIRED to the old wheels(since the new ones dont have sensors) it will pick them up everytime I park the car.

aha, sorry.. read through it too fast. It is entirely possible as I do not know the range of these sensors. but why not test it, Put it up on jacks in your garage and remove a tire and move the tire to the place you want to store them. Then put turn the key to ACC on and see if that corner shows a reading or just ---, effectively testing the range of the antenna. I know 2 of my TPMSs are going bad and often show --- and I have yet to see stability warnings or anything come on because of that. Based on that alone i don't see it being an issue.

Yes your car will pick up the old sensors everytime you park your car next to your old wheels. Only chance you have is wrapping your sensors in foil...obviously you can't do that if they're still attached to your old wheels.
Only other option you have is to turn off the system via a tech 2.

Unless you disable the system.
And mine would be more cause would have to put em on before the tires. So I pay their price on it. They are coming mounted and balanced.

Makes you wonder how they do it at the Cadillac dealerships with all those sensors all around the place. Where do they find someplace on the lot 200 feet away from all the other RFID's?

Can you disable the system? I thought (again not 100% on my recollection) that it was tied in with the key fobs.
Also, if it's disabled, why would it read your other set of wheels?
One more (lol), if you aren't using TPMS with your new wheels anyway, why would it matter if the system occasionally registered the tire pressure of your other wheels?

I say buy the sensors they are worth having. I just havent had the urge to pull all 4 tires off mine to replace them.

I have one sensor on the car and the other three are in the garage within 75'. I have full access to comp mode and stability off. The one sensor still reads the pressure and the other three read the pressure of the three that are stored. I can see a tire pressure climb from heat in the one sensor on the car. The other three I now know the true cold pressure of those tires as they have been dormant for 2 weeks.
Quoted from GM
"•Any concerns with tire pressure will prevent the vehicle from entering Competitive Driving Mode. Ensure that all tires are properly inflated and there are no DTCs related to the Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPM) system.
