couple of V questions...
Hey guys, got rid of my 05 mustang recently and looking into a LS6 CTS-V. I have some questions. It seems like they wheel hop and the the rear diffs suck. Im willing to accept that, but are there any other common problems? Im looking at a 85k 05' right now for 16.5k and Im just worried about the miles. Help me out guys, any thoughts, suggestions/rear end options?

Mine has way more then that and runs like a champ. Get motor mounts, shifter and change the fluids plugs ect..and your good. Just don't dump it from a stop and you may keep the rear end in her for a while. Pray for the 3rd or 4th gen diff also...good luck

I have 121,xxx on my 04. 2nd set of motor mounts are shot, radio ***** and other (coated) interior pieces are flaking off, trunk shocks are worn out (trunk lid apparently weighs 3,500 lbs), other than that it's a remarkably solid car for the miles.... MUCH MORE than my last Cobra was @ 90,xxx. It's not a perfect car, but it's never let me down and for the amount of abuse that I've put it through I'm amazed at how well it's held up. In a nutshell I'd buy another one today without a 2nd thought.

Yeah I was giving safe estimate. I was unloading a laser at a vet practice, since I use the V as my sales ride.... The vet and 3 techs were getting out of her truck after their lunch break and she asked "Can we help you with anything?", at the EXACT second that I was telling her "Na I got it tha------, MUTH@$#$%R SONOFA#$*%!" The trunk lid came down with the amount of force that I was sure a silverback gorilla had jumped on it and landed on my head. I had at least a 2" knot directly on the top/back of this buckethead of mine...... Still haven't replaced the damn shocks tho.

looks like the bmr anti wheel hop kit is a good idea but what about the pinion support brace? basically im looking on whats the best way to keep the rear end intact for a while without spending thousands.

I have the pinion support brace - prob the only reason she's still intact. It helps limit deflection on the pinion nose piece since the first mounting piece is AFT of the nose section.
The only fix for wheel hop at 95% is axles. I am at 83k and still orig diff. I give her a few hard accelerations in first and second every once in a while, but as long as you granny shift 1-2 and feather appropriately, there is nothing to work about. Although, I'm smart enough not to run around town trying to street race everyone in my 2ton car.
