Default Stabilitrak / Traction Control Questions...

I have check the FAQ, and nothing. And did a half assed search on here, but nothing as well. So...

Just about everytime I hit a bump, I get the magical "Service Stability System" on the DIC. I am pretty sure that it the speed sensor(s) in the *** end of the car.

The questions are...

Would my assumpion correct, if not, what could it be?

How do I "fix" the Sensor(s) (i.e. where are they and all that ****)?

Thanks in Advance.

I bet GM was just sick of seeing those piles of truck motor ****. So they just slapped it together to get it the hell out of the plant. The whole car is likely missing a few parts and bolts to hold the suspension together.

Poor Allen...so mad that he spent more money on his car then I did, and could only manage a 13 second pass.

Poor Cole...so mad that he spent more money for an 07, and could only manage to pull his car into the staging lanes and break before he made a pass.

Mine did the same thing and it was the speed sensor, I was still on the factory warranty though so I just dropped it off at the dealership.

Only way to scientifically prove it is to get access to a tech 2. I thought the speed sensors were built into the hub so you'd need to replace the hub itself (could be wrong).

It as done this before, while under warranty...but that is gone now. So I am hoping to figure this out with get bent over at the dealer.

The last time they said they had to replace a speed sensor, but metioned nothing about the hub being replaced. May just have to jack her big *** up, and poke around in there.

I have the same problem and after my tuner scanned it with Tech II, it turned out the driver side rear speed sensor was bad. I checked the plug and connection to it and it's fine but the sensor itself has gone out. Since the sensors are built into the hub you're going to have to replace the whole hub assembly. Best deal I've found is on rockauto.com and it's a timken bearing and hub with the sensor built into it. It runs around $160 for the whole thing and then just give yourself a few hours to pull the hub and swap the new one in.

Just get someone to check it with Tech 2 to figure out which sensor it is after you check for a lose connection, etc..

Just watch it with stabilitrak. Keep it off if you can. I've seen it engage erratically sending me almost sideways on bumpy roads before it figured out it was malfunctioning and disabled itself.

I have tried it with everything one, T/C off, in Competitive Driving Mode, and with T/C and S/C turned off. It will pop the message and the ABS light will come on with I am backing out of my drive way at 3mph...haha. Damn fickle bitch of a car.

Yep, that be a faulty sensor. Got to get someone with a tech 2 to figure out which one or it gets real expensive replacing them all one by one.

Keep t/c off thought for every drive. The system will eventually pop up a permanent BCM fault and disable itself, hopefully.

Turns on, something just was not seated properly...

I had a little bit of free time (since the government decided I was staying stateside). So I jacked her up, and poked around in her rear. Messed around with the sensors, put her back down...and have not had an issues since. Been about a week now.

Good on you. Maybe a loose connector or wire. I miss cheap fixes.
