Default 5 lug Pros I need your help

I'm sure this subject has been beat to death but I haven't really found the answer I need after looking through all the threads. Or maybe I have and just overlooked it.

One of my front wheels developed a crack on the bead and after looking around it seems like I would end up paying about the same for a new v1 wheel as it would cost me just to 5 lug swap the front. I would be doing the c6 hub and just drilling my rotors. I'm looking at c7 z06 or c6 zr1 replicas. Both are 18x8.5 56mm offset. So I would need somewhere around a 12mm spacer/longer studs to get it to stock? Would this be an issue?

Not sure what the issue would be. 18x8.5 is the stock wheel size and spacers and long studs correct the offset.

I guess I've never used spacers before so it's just not something I'm used to. This is my daily, other than my motorcycle so I just want to make sure when I go start ordering stuff it all fits together since I need to get this thing back on the road.

You can get a stock wheel used for $150 if you look around. Some things can be simple if you let them. How much is the 5-lug conversion plus a pair of corvette wheels? Plus the spacers and decent studs?

Thanks ******! When I went to check ebay for any available stock wheels that may have been posted for you, I happened upon an ATI damper blem for $279 shipped! You just saved me about $100 over the Fluidampr I had anticipated purchasing.

I didn't see a reasonably priced stock wheel on there for you, unfortunately. But there may be someone that posted in the classifieds either here or on Cadillacforums with one. I would probably exhaust all of those avenues before doing the 5-lug swap unless you were looking for an excuse to do it anyway.

I was looking for an excuse lol. I ordered the wheels today as a matter of fact. I had a few people say they had extras on FB but when I asked for a shipped price they all got silent. I'm sure I could wait around for a good deal but time is an issue for me.

i would push you towards a wheel that fits opposed to using spacers and longer studs in order to make it happen. i can offer a few options to you that'd work.

i'd also urge you to think about the base model hubs so you could run 5x114.3 wheels instead of 5x120. there's way more options with that bolt pattern.

I hadn't heard about using base model hubs, for some reason the thought didn't even cross my mind.

Unfortunately, the wheels have already arrived and I'm already going this route.

The real question here, to buy ebay hubs or not. I'm specifically looking at a set from Detroit Axle.

I'd go for Timken or Delco hubs if it were me.

If you daily drive the car, I'd put Timkens on it. If it's just a weekend or second car that doesn't see many miles, the Ebay hubs may last you long enough.

AFAIK, the ACDelcos are rebranded Timkens. So, if you buy the Timkens you just avoid the ACDelco markup.

NAPA branded stuff is just as good with the same length of warranty and you don't pay any of those company mark ups.

that being said i run ebay hubs and they're fine for over two years and 30k miles.

I used to be all about Timkens, Moog etc. These days I don't think the high end brands are what they once were. That said I'm sure they are better than ebay parts. The Detroit Axel parts apparently have a 5yr warranty and at ~$90 a pair I would be more than fine with it if they last half that long.

This is a daily but I've only put about 30k on it in 5yrs.

to be fair i bought "precision auto". it's the brand i'd have bought at o'reilly's that would have come with a 3 year warranty.

all four came in three different boxes from different manufacturers even though i ordered all four from the same vendor and the same part numbers. they're all the same crap.

Were any of those Federal Mogul boxes? I bought a "Moog" part from Rock Auto on clearance and the box is actually Federal Mogul, which I'm assuming was part of an acquisition.

I finally got all the parts to put this thing back together and the hub doesn't seem to want to fit. It looks like the area with the abs wire isn't clocked right to allow it to slide in and still match up to the bolts. I was under the assumption these were bolt on?

These are the ones I ordered

I kinda stuck my head back there and it looks like its close but It definitely won't just pop in like the old one. I would be drawing it in using the bolts and I'm not sure I would be able to do it without grinding some of the spindle/knuckle whatever you want to call it.

You need to reclock the ABS sensor, just pop it off with a flat blade screw drive and put it on at the same orientation as your stock one.
