Default fuel surge tank vs in tank pumps

Has anyone installed a fuel surge tank on their cts-v. seems in tank options are tough to come by-for high hp cars. I am looking at a radium dual pump system for my cts-v. Any thoughts? Just thinking its the easiest way to keep the stock pump in the tank and yet fuel a 1000hp car...

I would contact lonnies performance about getting an in tank setup. He can custom make you the pickup. Or just put a fuel cell in the trunk.

Lonnies is a great place but be prepared to walk out without your wallet. Fueling can get really expensive really quickly.

Yes, there are a couple of folks I recall on the CF forum that are running surge tanks. It's all custom work of course.

I'm no expert but I've never seen anyone run 1000hp FI on our fuel lines/returnless system so you're probably looking at upgrading all the fuel lines on top.

That Radium Dual setup is *******! Honestly, it looks like you have already come up with what is most likely the most cost effective and viable solution.

I think the best cheapest solution for a high horsepower setup would be a Walbro 400 intank pump. Remove the intank regular, and switch to the self regulating corvette fuel filter. Then run a new line off the fuel filter.

The Gen I cts-v 'fuel regulator' is not in the tank. Its integrated with the fuel filter which is located just in front of the rear passenger tire and up. To remove the regulator, to put a regulator on the rails, one must replace this 'filter w regulator' using a filter only, such as what comes with the cobalt SS - PN. 22734980

Pretty sure you are wrong about this.

Nah man, pretty sure he's got it right. The '04 - '07 V uses the same filter as the Corvette with the integrated regulator. My parts man confirmed this the last time I changed it, it's why he didn't have it in stock.

There is, however, supposedly a regulator in the tank also. Why they did this? Who knows. Possible that it may also just be a pulsator in the tank, but on my OE LS6 intake, there is what appears to be yet another "regulator" like device. I'm sure there were reasons for this....damn if any of us knows what it is though.

Maybe I'll have them pull everything up on the call-out screen next time i'm at the parts counter and see what the hell everything is so that we know for sure.

When I changed the fuel filter It was the same filter as the f body. There is a
regulator on the fuel bucket assembly, on the return line. It is about the same size as the f body one. What you are saying is possible, but I think its setup like the F body.

FPR is in the assembly on the end of the return line. Im not sure about the filter.

I read about an STS-V guy that has the same part number as our filter insisting it has a FPR in it. The cobalt SS one supposedly does not have an FPR and fits our setup. Im curious how that corvette setup would work out for someone.

I was in there last year, never saw any 'regulator'. Hmm.. dam, ill have to go through my notes.
Im very sure, recalling, this is not a regulator, perhaps a line damper.

I used to think it was part of the assembly (in tank regulator), just like my WS6, but after tearing everything apart. I no longer state regulated in tank for the V1.

Just to clarify... the item in question is:
The Fbody regulator is the at right

i just went and got my spare in tank assembly and confirmed what the red arrow item is.

It is a Denso FPR that feeds the jet pump for our bucket intake. It is on the end of the return line from the "other" FPR in the filter.

The job of this in tank FPR and jet pump is to help keep our bucket from a low fuel condition when the tank is low. The return fuel is "shot" into our bucket through the trap door

Phychobilly - thanks for the mint picture.
My notes are contradicting (old notes and newer) regarding regulator/filter or filter only, and hope 98Cobra can set me straight...

What have others done with fuel pluming when removing the bucket assembly regulator? best way to keep pump basket full.

Losing my mind I guess...

Stock cts-v fuel filter - 25763176 ACDelco #GF897 - filter , doesn't mention Regulator.

98cobra looks right!

Sorry about mus-informing everyone.
