Default Katech Shifter Shift ***** Solution Found

My TWM weighted **** came in today (took a month). Those of us who have a katech short throw shifter know it is damn near impossible to find a good **** that is threaded and fits. If you order a TWM **** in a 9/16-18 thread pattern the insert can be bored out and retapped to accept the katech shifter with minimal effort. Took me all of 15 minutes:

1. I used a vice to hold the insert in place
2. Drilled the insert out with a 1/2 inch bit
3. Insert lock nut and insert into ****
4. Put tap in vice, and twist **** until insert is fully threaded.

The TWM **** has a very solid and connected fit, well worth the wait and 15 minutes of labor.

9/16-18, it is the easiest to modify because it is only off by 1/16 of an inch. Still has to be drilled out and tapped, but that is the size I ordered.

edit: I have no clue which one fits stock shifters, this was for katech. I'm not sure what the stock size is.

This is why the Katech shifter comes with a 5/8-18 tap included so you can tap the factory shift **** or any other **** you want. Why not order your **** in the correct 5/8-18 thread?

Well furbe...go ahead and find me someone who makes a shift **** in that size, also try to explain to the canadians who run TWM that it would be worth making an adapter in that size. in fact.

eBay has ***** in the size needed for the katech. They are just standard round ball ***** like the hurst **** but look nice for the money.

Reason I'm asking if the stock size shifter is 9/16 because I'm looking at a used CTS-V TWM **** and I have a katech shifter.

The stock shifter is not threaded, the shiftnob snaps on. This is why Katech includeds a 5/8-18 tap so you can tap threads into the stock shiftnob. (or any ball **** or handle of your choosing.

I called TWM, dude said although they do not show 5/8-18 thread as an option on their website, it would be no problem to thread your custom order ball with this thread size. Just call them.

I know stock is just push on but it's the diameter of the shifter I'm still interested in so I will know if this used **** I'm considering will work for me or not? It's ordered to the fit stock V shifter.

The whole point of this thread was to show that the fitting's TWM uses can be drilled and threaded. TWM does not make a shift **** that is threaded to a certain size, just an insert. This insert has enough meat on it to be threaded to a katech short throw.

I know the point of the thread but without a drill press, I'd prefer to not have to take much off the sleeve to make it easier. That's all. I know any size can be drilled to fit.

I don't see why everyone thinks Katech uses a uncommon thread. Its the same thread used in F-bodys. There are lots of shifter ***** available.

Are you sure about that? I've searched and haven't found **** for 5/8"-18. Only a couple options and I found some basic machined billiard ball style ***** in steel and stainless on eBay threaded to fit already.
