There are 100 different covers out there so that's a trial and error thing.
I have the cobra carbon discs too.. they dont chatter/click at all, gotta love OEM..

which cover b/c the main clearance issue is the 8.8's rear mount. that has to be removed to get 8.8 to fit in the cradle. the CS brackets will act like a girdle so you dont need any of the mustang aftermarket bracing/ they prob wouldnt even fit..

For instance, aren't clutch packs a feature of our transmissions? How do they relate to the differential?

What are girdle braces?
Clutch packs in a transmission would be an automatic transmission.

And by clutch packs I mean the spider gears and clutch plates that make the carrier a LSD and locker

Here's the same cover I have going on mine. It's flat and have the carrier bearing cap bracing in it. I refuse to break the rear again!

looks diesel.. well the depth looks good so it will clear the cradle but those bearing caps might not clear the CS bracket.. i think at the 9:00 and 3:00 spot it might not clear.. cs cover was 100$ worth it imo

Is the CS bracket 3/8 inch or 1/4 inch? I am thinking it is 3/8. I was planning on using 1018 cold rolled steel to make my bracket.

Updated again but wanted to share a small testimonial:

"I bought the kit with the mounting brackets, axles(without outer CVs) and the driveline for $2550 + $150 shipping.

Junkyard diff from a '95 Cougar for $106,
Carrier $219
Gears and bearings $235
Diff Assembly $135
Por-15 and paint $51
Rear cover weld $32
Bolts nuts and washers $6
Diff bushings $33
Ford Racing Gears(2nd set) $140
New Rear cover $100
Total cost for me $1,057

I also had to get the rear cover hacked up and welded to fit.

I have to reuse the front mount bushings from the cougar, get some lock washers and nuts for the rear bolts and longer bolts for the back cover.

I saved enough building my own diff to get the:
CS motor mounts, tranny mount, pacesetters & magnaflow cats."

If anyone has a junk CTSV housing, let me know!

More to come...

I went and picked up a complete rear cradle assembly from hub to hub. It has a newer style rear diff in it and the car only had 54,000 on it when wrecked. I am going to make some of my own brackets to mount my junkyard 8.8.

I am trying to pick up a busted CTSV housing right now.

I will need the front bushings from the Lincoln I think. I wish I had saved them when I took it out maybe they are still there. I am going back to U-Pull and Pay to try and get a Explorer rear diff and some 31 spline inner axles(joints). People respline 9 inch Ford axles so I don't know why they couldn't do CV axles as well.

As you may already know, there are a few companies that make poly, Delrin, and aluminum bushings for the Cobra diffs. Might be worth spending the extra money to get better bushings for those front mounts rather than using the squishy factory rubber ones.

You would have paid less just buying a Cobra Diff. I paid only $800 for mines with 3.73 gearing put in it. Plus $100 for the CS Cover.
