How much vibration after cam?
Ok I just picked up an '05 V and I'm wondering how much vibration y'all experienced after camming yours. It's getting the motor from my Trans Am, but I'm wondering if it might make it shake too much for my liking. The cam in question is a Comp XR281HR. The skinny on that is 228/230 ~.570 112, and the motor will be high compression. With my polyurethane mounts in the Trans Am, it shakes a bit. I'm sure a more violent cam would be much more so, but I want the Caddy to retain as much of it's original smoothness as possible. While I know it won't be as smooth as a Northstar, it'd still be nice to not have a Cadillac that feels like a damn race car. I will get a custom cam if I have to. What have your experiences been, and what advice can you offer on this subject?
Also, the motor made 446/426 to the wheels, I wouldn't mind losing a few for the sake of smoothness.
Thanks

Yeah I thought about using stock mounts. I don't suppose it could hurt too much. Don't know anything about Focus mounts. I'll have to look into that. Any estimates on stock mount life expectancy with an aggressive motor? Versus the aftermarket?

Focus Mount is the stock CTS-V mount.

I've heard of people heat wrapping them, and that saves some life, but the aftermarkets typically last a lot longer, but at the cost of some comfort.

I'm beginning to like the idea of a custom cam. And I think I may chance it with stockers (brand new ones, might as well.) I can afford maybe 20rwhp before I wish I had just Maggie'd it.

I just don't know if I can bring myself to spend over 6 grand on a (IMHO) junk Eaton supercharger. One thing that nearly turned me off to these things were the limits on modding.

I am of the very same opinion. I have the solid Poly mounts and a stock cam at the moment and the vibes, although infrequent, drive me insane! Here is how I am trying to mitigate this:

Oh, and screw a Maggie...hopefully the E Force should be available soon, and I think there may be a group buy in the near future:

I was under the impression that E-Force was just another Roots-type blower. I would only do that if it was cheap enough to be worth it.
Oh, and after taking the car for a drive today, I've decided that a smooth(ish) custom cam is a must. The plus side is that it will probably be very boost-friendly, so all I'll have to do is swap out the milled heads and I'll be ready to go!

I would not discount a roots type blower, esp. if you are looking for a street friendly setup.
