Leaned on the center stack a little putting in the new defroster vent/upper dash cover and that sucker shattered like nobody's business....The upper AC vent was out of it at the time so I'm guessing it supplies a decent amount of support for it so in the future, I'll be a little more careful.

Off to the junkyard.

Wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for removing the glove box....almost as bad as the clutch master.

The squatter has exited the garage. Few things to move and clean up and the V comes inside.

So I had a ball joint stud failure that needed to be remedied. Once I dug in on this I found a busted FG2.

Left front FG2 with GC coilover setup.

So I decided to go ahead and really finish off the front end. This meant replacing all of the ball joints, all of the rubber bushings to poly, and swapping out the stock FG 2s to KW V3s.

Front shock, upper bushings, and ball joint.

Lower A arm and sway bar bushings.

Rear shock

Rear springs

Many who have invested in the KW V3s have mentioned wanting some type of cover to protect the shocks. I went with these. They should work well but I haven't put any miles on them yet.

Outerwears Shockwears

While I had the backseat out I decided to take a pic or two of the metal I cut out to allow more bass from the subs into the cabin (my subs are mounted directly behind the seats firing into the cabin). Several have asked about this and before now I did not have any pics. So... I thought I would throw these in.

A busted FG2, what are the odds... Bummer anyways.

Interesting, I always thought the KW3's were a coilover design in the rear, or did you disassemble them and continue to use part of your ground control setup? I like the spring covers, but still don't think those would do much of anything in a midwestern winter.

The KW V3s ship as a separate coil and shock. You can adapt them to a true coilover but I think some have run into clearance issues.

Prepped my motor to be pulled (need a hoist and a truck...)

...because I found this while checking my cam for damage. Torquer 2 looked like this after ~25k miles (I think, got it used):

...and the front cam bearing looks like this:

yay.

Help an engine novice out. I see the scoring marks on the cam, that appear to be on the lobes, and I see a surface on the bearing that looks cloudy. Tell me what happened first, which then caused... And out of curiosity, what started this troubleshooting endeavor?

It's a very long, sad story. Replaced lifters over the long Thanksgiving weekend after talking to some people about my extra long pushrod length...the consensus was that my current lifters were on borrowed time. Anyway, that project took over 35 hrs for various reasons...total nightmare. Got the car back together and there was an additional tick, but before I was going to pull the heads again, some people recommended checking the cam...and the rest is history.

I was surprised too...nice little upgrade I thought. Now if I'd just get off my *** and do something about the trunk light...what a joke.
