If you start your car from dead cold, does your oil, water, and transmission temperatures match the outside temperature? Mine do not. I wasn’t sure if all the sensors have the same range?

Is it safe to assume that because the sensors are all positioned differently (in their respective spots) that there actually could be a variance in temperature? Think about it: If you have a sensor positioned near the outside of the car, reading the temperature outside, and you have one inside the engine that's being covered/shaded by the hood, chances are you'll get two slightly different readings.

Right? Or are you seeing radical differences in your numbers?

oil and coolant tend to match. Nothing else for me though. Doesn't seem wrong, just seems that they are in different locations. Nothing out of the ordinary IMO.

For example right now, it's in the garage and it's dead cold. My infrared thermometer reads 52 deg.
Without starting the car they are:
Transmission 51
Outside temp. 46
Coolant 48
Oil 37
Think I'm going to try putting a star washer under the ground wire by the hood shock.

Oil temp is unreliable.
