Finally got to put the driveshaft back in. The bad vibes I was getting on the highway are gone, and there is significantly less drive train clunkiness at low speed. Very happy.

Just tossing out ideas here....

What if: we were to make some tool sets...and good instruction set on replacing the carriers yourself, along with renting our tools.... Is that something people are interested in? Or is this asking for lots of driveshafts that have been jacked with incorrectly, leak grease, and are indexed wrong screwing up the balance. Curious what people think...

It's good for some, bad for others but I'd do that in a minute to save $150 to $200. I wouldn't do it to save a $100 though. Would it require access to a press???

I have access to a press...

Given my location it would be easiest to ask for toolin and instructions...

I would be in for that!! Having thecar down for a day or two is easier than the shipping transit time.

I thought about finding another driveshaft to send in, they appear to be thin on the ground or cost prohibitive.

Making a DIY kit would be enticing. I don't know enough about the process to point out any concerns, but if it's designed anything like what Creative Steel offers in the way of instruction and tooling it could be beneficial to a lot of people.

I believe that the people who feel they have the skills necessary would love this option and those who aren't sure would send them to you, therefor making this option viable.....plus if the end user messes up the install it's on them.

Just make sure to charge a hefty tool rental since 07CTS-V had a problem with people not returning tools.

I've had ideas for simply made tools that would just come with the price of the setup.. Also been figuring out ways to achieve the same results with said tools and basic garage mechanics set.

Just found your website for the poly carrier bearing. I have a 2006 GTO. Can I install this myself? I already have the driveshaft apart and was about to order the factory bearing. The only thing it looks like I would need to do is remove the rubber ring that remains in the support frame then install the poly bearing.

I'd love this idea seeing as I'm in Germany and shipping seems like a nogo.

Yea I'm really liking this idea. One of the downsides is that without a jig to hold parts steady and to verify alignment...its very easy to get the two halves clocked incorrectly.. Which could lead to vibration issues...so we might offer plans to build a quick jig.

We are thinking the job can be done with basic tools such as hammer, flat head screw drivers, lock ring pliers, silicone, and our included tool sets.

As far as clocking goes, wouldn't it be simple enough to include index markings to align?

Index markings on what? You have to mark the shaft, so our tools can't include index marks really. Maybe reference points where you can mark the shaft and align with our tool marks.
