Bio,

I had the same Issue you are describing, but mine would vibrate when it was whining. I tried the spray Lube method with no luck. I just got my Drive Shaft back from Voodoo. I haven't had a chance to put it in yet, But I was thinking that I would take some pictures along the way an give my input on his work.

First impressions are that the turn around time is really quick. Shipping seems to the the longest part of the whole thing

the issue is i don't have time to let me car down for days. it's my daily driver and my only other transport is my motorcycle, and i don't ride in the rain...

i'd have to score a core from voodoo if i were to do it. take some pictures for sure. i have a good idea of what's involved, but more information is always a help. the whining is definitely annoying and i hate that i have no control over it.

kind of makes me want to just buy a single piece driveshaft if that is really the issue, though.
Yep, that's your carrier bearing. Describes my symptoms to a T. I eliminated 80% of it with the 3M Window Weld mod, but just had a used OEM drive shaft installed with a known good bearing on it. I still filled the rubber carrier with the Window Weld for good measure to eliminate some of the deflection. I eventually plan on having my original OEM rebuilt with a new bearing once the war chest recovers.

Got my rebuild drive shaft back in last weekend. This really is the way to go if your carrier is whining and you don't want to drop the money for a replacement or aftermarket shaft. For anyone thinking of doing this, the turn around time is very quick, the work is great and voodoo is responsive about any concerns you have.

I took pictures along the way, but there really isn't much to show. I can post them if anyone really wants.

I only wish original had lasted long enough to get the upcoming poly bushing.

Any updates on the poly carrier? Difference in cost for that vs. rubber?

Test mules are IN!!!! After a design & tooling change we got our new test bearing units in hand. Testing will commence!
So far by the feel in the hand, the red 60a unit feels great but would deflect more than the other two units. The 80a almost feels too hard but we will see when torque is applied to it.

how long do you anticipate testing to happen for?

otherwise i'm going to be going with a single piece drive shaft in the near future to get rid of this POS carrier bearing.

I would like to note that we now have carriers that will work on the CTS. So if anyone has a CTS or knows someone.... this can benefit them.

Last edited by voodoochikin04; 10-16-2014 at 03:07 PM. Reason: update for CTS as well

This is extremely exciting news! Subscribed, that way once your core program goes live, I'll snag one with a 70A bushing/ship mine back to you and gladly beat the bag out of my car as a test for my own personal gratification
