Replace that driveshaft bearing!!!
Just wanted to let people know that if they have a failing or failed driveshaft bearing on a 2004-07 cadillac cts-v, that they ARE replaceable and to message me with questions.
***UPDATE 2-26-15***
All our procedures, tooling, and process has been in place for some time now. We are pretty much all polyurethane replacements now, although we still have some OEM rubber style carriers in stock. The bearing units we use are made by KOYO and are C-3 bearings. We now offer only Red 30a Poly units.
***The Red 30a is a perfect replacement for any vehicle, whether stock or high HP. We have recently done extensive testing to show that the solid Red 30a poly unit maintains the same alignment of the driveshaft under light to medium loads as the drilled 50a we used to offer, as well as showing less deflection under heavy load than the drilled 50a without any vibration or noise transfer, while keeping maximum ride quality. Due to these findings we have discontinued the Orange drilled 50a poly units. We have also been implementing a bearing steel disc into our setup that helps secure the poly into the OEM steel bracket. ***
To properly prep and package your driveshaft there are a few simple guidelines that will help.
We have found that standard carboard box works the best and the package handlers don't abuse them to spite weird packaging. (we used sonotube with wooden end caps and the package carriers destroyed them everytime.) The box dimensions should NOT exceed 67inches in length at the maxium and should be within 64-65inches. The sides should NOT exceed 11inches but should fall within 9inches on each side. So a 9"x9"x64" box would be perfect! Total weight should NOT exceed 32lbs max depending on the filler. Typical shipping weights are 28lbs. This package is NOT considered a large package and does NOT require any extra handling fees. Please use paper stuffing, or bubble wrap or other package filler to secure your driveshaft in the box. A loose driveshaft will flop around and cause damage to the packaging or to the shaft. IE torn center cv boot (we can replace them now but not cheap).
To properly prep your driveshaft for shipment once you have removed it from the vehicle, you must run zipties through the rear CV joint to keep the protective shield and rear cover plate in place. We have had instances where the rear cv has fallen apart in the box when the sender did not ziptie it. <----YOU MUST DO THIS!! We would prefer that you also remove the rubber flex disc prior to sending the driveshaft. It weighs about a pound more and gets in the way of our jig.
Standard turn around times including shipping time is 7-9 days. We typically will service the driveshaft within 24-48 hours of it arriving. We always inspect the shaft for any major problems that may hinder further use and document any issues we find. Our process keeps the two halves of the driveshaft perfectly indexed to each other so the shaft does not need balancing after our service is performed. We offer a 1year warranty on the poly units from the date or purchase. Most importantly we always stand behind our service and products no matter what.
I think that should cover things for now. Please message me with any questions or to discuss options. ****

the bearing and rubber surround are new. These units are made for the cts-v. We have successfully completed several of these, and a member here is planning to do a write up soon. We will be offering core swaps once we have some available, problem being is that if someone decides to not send theirs back or takes months, we can't just use the deposit to buy a new one. tough call.

This also makes packaging much easier, as we don't have to source the proper packaging if we reuse yours. If you also include the return shipping as an option, it will be quite easy to return.

Yea i get it, cores will be available when we are able to get some, not easy to come by haha. But in the mean time, the service is AVAILABLE and is far cheaper than replacing your shaft with a new or aftermarket one simply because of a failed support bearing or rubber surround.

I will have a core available for purchase as soon as I can complete my Geforce 9" installation. The car just broke 30,000 miles, so the driveshaft is in good condition.

Can you explain the issues seen when this bearing is worn or not optimal? Is there a way to tell if needs service by inspecting it? For reference I have 120k on my 07 V and everything in the drive line has been replaced(trans, axles, diff) or upgraded(all bushings/mounts) aside from the engine and drive shaft components between the trans and diff. Would this service make sense and what would I expect after doing it?
