Default loose/broken ground wire- where does it connect?

does anyone know where this wire connects?

I can't see behind the starter but it feels like the ground wire that is connected to the passenger side motor mount bracket...

does it connect to that plug? if so where? I would appreciate a pic or visual description next time someone is under there..

my oil temp alarm keeps going nuts, this might be the problem...

thanks

There is no ground wire connection to either motor mount.

Your oil temp alarm problem might be from the ground under the hood strut.

Ah ok. Perhaps it's not a ground wire but there is some sort of wire with a metal ring that secures to the engine via the corner upper bracket bolt closest to the starter. I've r/r several times.

I'll just have to pull the starter to get a better pic..should have done that the other night, was just hoping someone already knew where it connected.

Possible it belongs to something north of all that too..

Ps- I've done all the fixes in the big oil temp thread, still have issues though..

That could be your motor ground as crappy as it is.

Measure the resistance from the broken end to ground.

The "ring" the other end connects to might be the ground lug.

That broken end in the picture might go to the negative battery connector.

Look for a wire stub in that area.

Does that fix the signal and make the gauge accurate or does it just stop the stupid alarm from bugging out and jumping 50 degrees in either direction in a matter of seconds?

It will "fix" that problem if it is the source of the trouble.

It usually is.

Aluminum is a shitty ground material.

So it should read accurately then? I'll give it a shot tomorrow. Thanks

Checked this again last weekend. Didn't have a multimeter but this time I moved the starter.. The wire definitely connects to the motor mount bolt.. and judging by a couple of random pics I found on the net, it seems to connect to, or is at least routed through, the sensor/loom on the oil pan. Didn't see anything out of place from the negative battery cable but still can't rule it out.

If someone could eyeball this for me next time they are under there, I would appreciate it. I haven't torn the loom at the connector yet, so it would help to know if it's spliced to another wire or travels alone. Thanks

Probably was the ground fix for the oil temp sensor.

Quick Reply: loose/broken ground wire- where does it connect?
