AFAIK, they won't fit an LS6. I think they might fit an LS2 though, but I could be way off-base.

Negative... 4.00inch bore is the minimum. Total volume doesn't matter.

Its not that hard to find a cheap LS2 or LS3 from a junkyard anymore. A gen4 motor would be better anyways.

They will fit if you bore the block out but not stock block. As the others said, 4.00in bore as a minimum

That's what I would do. Are they assembled stock parts? Or are there any aftermarket stuff? Either way that's a decent deal. New, I think they are like $500/ea from gmpp

Just port and mill the 243s and call it a day. Or grab some aftermarket heads.

I don't know that I would do an engine swap to run lsa heads. I have them on my ls2 but the main selection point was the added strength to support the blower build. My a mild port and polish they flow pretty well.

For me, its the fact that the LS6 is getting a bit long in the tooth as it were. Its got 95k miles right now. Another two years of daily driving and I'll hopefully have a punched out LS2 ready to go in. Going to a rectangular port makes sense at that point.

Overall flow isnt everything when it comes to heads. Runner length, deck height etc all play a role in each application.

both were originally a minimum of 6.0l. but i guess i should have been more specific. 4.00" bore IS the minumum bore size to be able to run square port heads

Well if you really wanted to run a rectangular port head on an LS6, LS1, or any other "small bore" LS... You can always run a set of GM, MAST, or whovere else makes em, small bore LSX heads. The OP just asked specifically about LSA heads. The small bore heads take it down to 3.89 bore. I honestly think these are a great alternative. You can still put them on larger bores as well if you upgrade down the road. I'm going to nurse my LS6 along until I have the money to drop an punched out LS2 or LS3 in mine so I can make gobs of power. They will obviously run a rectangular port just fine. Junkyards near me have take outs for under $2k. That's a fully dressed motor with ECU.

again...., i guess i should have been more specific, i presume its split hairs night. i ment to run an oem as cast square port head from a production engine your engine must have a minimum bore of at leat 4.00"
