Default TDP stage 2 trans rebuild w/ Diamond stage 2 clutch & lightweight flywheel.

Just talked to Jason @TDP and got a quote for Stage 2 transmission rebuild w/ diamond stage 2 clutch and lightweight flywheel! Price was good so I scheduled dropoff for this coming up Thursday.. I'm excited to finally get her on the road with no issues! I've heard nothing but great things about Jason so I'm eager to get the slow girl on his operating table.

Yeah, just got done talking with Jason and made me feel really happy with what he is planning! I did mention that it's a daily driver to him but also said that I wanted it to handle 450whp+ if I add juice sometime this year... it should be around 25lbs less then Oem

Why not the cheap, tried and true LS7 setup?

I've read reviews from dozens of people that went from the LS7 to the diamond stage 2 clutch with lightweight flywheel and they all said it was the perfect upgrade..

Yeah, I've also seen a few people said that it took a bit of time getting used to it but once they did it was no problem... My understanding is that the rebuilt trans in addition to the clutch and lightweight flywheel will be 25lbs lighter then oem..

DO you think I will feel a difference in performance with this setup? Less Drivetrain loss? BTW, I've included a pic of the new Clutch aswell as a list for the stage 2 T56..

Stage 2 T56 -

-Carbon kevlar synchro rings
-Keys and springs
-Fork pad kit
-Seals
-Billet 1-2 keys
-Billet 3-4 keys
-Bronze 1-2-3-4 fork pads
-Bronze shifter bushing
-Steel 3-4 shift fork

I probably have one of the lightest clutchs (Exedy twin disc) in a V and I have no complaints about it being light. Still very easy to drive.

huh? Whats the weight? Also, what flywheel?

I have a monster stg 3 single with an 18 lbs FW so.....yeah! But I have No problem with driveability (due to weight) and rotating inertia. Just due to the fact that the monster stg 3 is a POS.

The Exedy I have weighs less than the LS7 with the Fidanza 13lb flywheel by about a pound or two but I dont recall the exact weight. The flywheel is Exedy and comes with the clutch and it comes prebalanced. The biggest diferance isn't really the weight though, its where the weight is. Even though its only a couple lbs lighter, its MOI is much lower.

Will I gain any power with this due to drivetrain loss? I really hated how my clutch would sink to the floor if I launched to hard so im excited to get her broke in so I can have some fun...

You wont gain any thing on the dyno, but you will feel the differance in acceleration.

I have the lsx9r and the whole setup weighs 38 pounds. Which is half of the stock one. No issues driving it. The flywheel is 14 pounds.

My 2nd gear is pretty notchy and if you don't pay attention you can grind it if you don't make sure it's all the way in. Looks like this trans rebuild is something I probably need at some point.

The Diamond Stage 2 is a great clutch! If you're ditching the stock dual-mass, it will feel like a new car.

I too had a very lightweight set up with a fidanza fly wheel and fidanza clutch, was a smaller diameter like the exedy, so more of it mass was towards the center. Wasn't bad to drive, awesome for rev matching. To take off smooth you basically give it no gas and let off the pedal smoothly.
The life of the clucth wasn't the greatest, mind you a leak at a slave connection from the last time I had it appart was what finnally did it in.
After I got some info from the guys at Monster, I decided to go with a heavier flywheel based on their recommendation, mind you know where near as heavy as OEM dual mass.
With a light weight set up and heavy car like ours , you won't get the same longevity out of the clutch with a light weight set up. Going with a light weight fly wheel is meant more for autocross. On the street or strip it's generally not needed.
With a heavy car and light weight aluminum flywheel you'll be slipping the clutch more to drive it smooth.

Hmmm, So what is the life of the Diamond stage 2 with lightweight flywheel? I dont want to have to dish out $$$$$ in another 2 or 3 yrs... If I keep the car that long...

I ran a 12lb katech ls9x flywheel and loved it, then again my boatanchor dual mass flywheel was completely gone when I did the swap. Light flywheel clutch combos make this car come alive, and are wonderful for road racing or auto x.

The way you drive I dont think any clutch will live 2-3 years.
