Default kooks headers - wideband bung

it looks as though the front (pre-cat) o2 sensors go straight up when installed. i need to also weld in a bung for my wideband. i was going to put it in the same 'position' as the narrowband bung on the drivers side header, but clock it at a different angle.

what do i have to worry about over there to clear with the o2 sensor? should i go inside or outside? does anyone have a good picture of where they put their wideband bung?

Looks like it would be best angled outboard, into that space below the floorpan and inboard of the frame rail.

Here's a pretty good view:

Should be plenty of space there.

so given that i clock it like 45* out from the narrowband sensor, towards the outside, i should be good to go?

did you just take that picture? any chance you could throw a tape measure in there?

Install it on the drivers side, on the inside so the wire comes towards the trans. This how I did mine and works very well.

Did you get a used set? Kook's started making them with the wideband bung already installed. Maybe you got an old set new in box?

Since you found the gallery, you probably noticed the date - those pics are all from when I was trying to figure out oil cooler routing. I no longer have those headers on the car, so no more pics.

I think 45* angled out would be fine, and it sounds like DMM did it angled in, so either way would work. (DMM, how far was yours angled in?)

i was sent these pictures from another V1 guy.

so it sounds like i can go inside OR outside with the bung. i think i'm going to stick with the outside of the pipe, about 45* out from the bung that's already there.

my set only came with the two bungs up front for the stock sensors, that's it. they're a set of 1.75" so maybe they have "old stock" in of those versus the 1.875"?

it's not a big deal to get the bung from the AEM wideband welded in, but where does kooks place the wideband bung?

to follow up and not just leave this unfinished...

i never heard back after asking the kooks support for pictures or a location of any second bung that they add in for a wideband so i went ahead and just got it welded in where i thought would be the ideal location, 45* (ish) to the outside of the drivers side header from the narrowband bung. pictures:

now i have to get them sent out to get coated and we'll be on our way to an install. i will update with a few more pictures of how the o2 sensors sit under the car with this configuration. i'm pretty confident it'll be fine how i have it currently. if not, ****.

If it doesn't work you could just buy a threaded plug (TP) for your bung hole.

exactly. then mark an actual good position to put it when the header is on the car and go from there. i still need the wideband so i can't just ditch it.

I was attempting to make a joke there. Perhaps it's before your time?
