Not to mention I'd be driving a piece of crap Scion xb or something like that compared to my V with heated seats.
Same here. People always ask why I drive thru the winter instead of getting a beater. It's because I don't want to drive a beater. This is a nice car but it's really just a midsize Chevy with a chrome grille. The V1 is a great car but it's not exactly a gem that needs to be preserved IMO. It's a drivers car so drive it.

You would be better off paying $10 a week to go through a drive-thru car wash. I'd only have to do it for about 3 or 4 months in Ohio, so that's $160 a year.

Necessity depends on your area. In Pittsburgh there's more snow and slush than ice usually. I park outside so when it's cold it stays frozen and when it's not, it gets rinsed. If you give it a good wax on top in the fall, and a good rinse underneath on a warm day or two during winter it's not gonna melt. It's really not.

I feel the same way. My family kept making a big deal when I told them I bought a Cadillac and I used nearly the same description.

Here where i live in Newfoundland, we have hard winters and we use a **** load of salt on the roads, no matter what color your car is at the end of the day driving after a snowstorm, your car will be white.. And we also have alot of slush, which kills and rusts cars here big time. Let's just say that a liquid wrench is our best friend here working in our local garages.. I will be putting my car away for the winter, no questions asked.

I've never owned a Civic, but the V with appropriate tires does very well. I've almost never had traction issues, only one time up a steepish country road, though I did make it up and home, but the back was sliding around a bit up it.

I have Dunlop Wintersport M3s on another set of factory wheels. I've had them I think 4 winters now?

Yep, it's all about the tires. Also, V's have engines and seat heaters that warm up very quickly.

Seriously, an $800 beater is cheaper than tires for these things. That would be my choice. Also don't have to worry about people sliding into you (or vice versa).

Not many $800 vehicles are fully functional and able to pass PA safety and emissions inspections without serious $$ input. Plus I just don't want to drive a shitbox for 2 hrs a day. That's why I bought a nice-Chevy/mediocre-Cadillac.

I factored in the cost, repairs, the insurance, the tabs and the storage of a beater and the gas savings vs. the 17ish I average in the winter with my beater and it's just not worth it. The V does ok and has heated seats and warms up fast lol
