Default Dyno today, car would only take 18 degrees of timing

Anything over that it detonated really bad. Bad tank of gas? Bad pcv system cause this? 05 5.7 longtubes fast intake, nothing crazy. 91 in the tank

also, how do I set my sound preferences so they dont change back to factory everytime I change the station?

you have to select the EQ you want to save and then re-save each preset.

Not sure why on timing but according to my data logger I think my car is in the low 20s at WOT and as high as 30 or so at part throttle. W4M tune.

If the AFR is too rich or lean you'll get detonation. From what I have found, N/A LS motors prefer to be a tad lean. I had one where the stoich was fattened up for E10 and it had the exact same problem, although this was a 5.3 in a Silverado. Could not get any advance into it until I leaned the stoich back out to 14.681. Then it was fine.

It's in the first post, just headers and an intake. Stock pcv setup

The car on the stock tune was 14-1 and knock retarding the timing like crazy

I will have to pull a plug and check. I'm assuming motor itself has never been opened

Where exactly are you encountering knock? There is not a whole lot of advance in the stock map to begin with b/c the 243 heads have very efficient chambers, and therefore require less advance.

Can you post your tune or take a snapshot of the timing advance map so we can see exactly what you're doing?

Are 100% sure it's real knock or just taking the ecms word for it?

You could have kr tables set to sensitive.

Pull all the plugs and look

He turned them off for a pull and without it yanking timing it was very obvious detonation

Try and do the crank sensor relearn procedure and see if that helps.

something is either wrong or its running more timing than it thinks it is

doubt its really running more timing, only put down 345whp on a rustang dyno so makes sense power wise for 18 total

Was there a wideband installed before the cat? I think a fuel pump is in your immediate future.

Also, the OE map has 21-22 degrees of timing. Did you have this problem prior to the tune or as a result of it?

no cats, o2 in tailpipe
fuel pump isnt the issue or the car wouldnt hold 12.5 afr to 6000 RPM
no, on the stock tune the knock sensors were yanking all the timing out

Change your plugs and personally Id unbolt the intake manifold and give it a thorough cleaning. Oil in the combstion process will cause detonation.

I have seen this more and more lately.. Poor PVC routing or setup and massive amounts of oil in the Intakes causing detonation. When I did my new blower I ran both valve covers together and to a catch can with a breather. I get about half a qt every oil change in the can.
