I think I'd still go RTV clear. I see nothing so far that sounds better. But to each there own.

I like my clips because they are spring loaded and snap in and out.The part that is visible can be painted or you could slot the plastic and insert the clip making it invisible.I might do that at some point.The clips hold themselves in place.

The 5 speed bezel mounts the exact same way as ours. I took it to a local leather shop and for 20 bucks he redid the leather with white stitching. The carbon fiber is a decal sheet I get off eBay from one of those Chinese sellers. A 12"x60" sheet for like 6 bucks shipped.

I epoxied mine this weekend and cleaned the bezel and painted the trim:
