Broken tabs on shifter bezel... way to fix?
Just looking for suggestions on how I might fix this thing, since replacements seem to be a little tough to come by. The bezel itself (black plastic ring) looks like absolute **** anyway, so a replacement would be ideal. But for the meantime, I'd just like to stop that ring from popping out of the console all the time... Any suggestions?

do you still have the tabs?
I put some RTV behind my tabs to give them additional support. You might be able to glue them on and do something similar. (I would use a glue for plastics to put the tab back on then maybe some RTV on the backside to give it additional support.

If not you could make some tabs with something like a popsicle stick and the gluing methods above?
I think if I was in your boat I would:
-wash the bezel and clean it up, leave it bare afterwards or paint it
-alcohol wipe the inside of where the bezel sits in the console
-apply a small (small enough to pull the bezel back off without destroying the bezel) dot of clear RTV to each corner of where the bezel sits in the console
-install bezel and let RTV cure.

I had this same problem, I tired fixing the tabs, extra support, text then realized I was overthinking it.
I used a couple small squares of double sided tape (the thin foam kind I could grab at HD or Lowes) and haven't looked back. To pop it free I grab a thin putty knife and it will come right out.

I saved the rear tabs that broke off and bent a piece of paper clip to reinforce around them. Then used a 2 part epoxy to glue it all in place. This was 3-4 years ago. Worked like a charm.

I had velcro on each corner (prev owner placed it) & it didn't hold in the Texas heat. Basically, eventually the velcro had a stronger hold than the glue on one side.
I bought a new one. I have not yet installed it until I get my Hurst shifter installed. I hope that when I get it in place, I won't have to open it for awhile.
