I cross threaded about 1/2" of that same bolt hole. My fix was this: I hit the tip of the bolt on the grinder so its more rounded and helped center it better. Then I used a spade bit for drilling holes in wood, that was slightly larger than my bolt. I drilled into the aluminum just past the bad threads. Bolt threaded in just fine then.

Of the 'ghetto' options available, I think you're spot on. I'd trust that over tapping the JB Weld or any other product.

Use it as an opportunity to convince the wife that you need a 454LSX block.

Default Losing my cool.

I am hating this car right now. I swear its fighting me tooth and nail to keep from going back together. Its worse than my BMW E36 by a longshot.

Ok....Im just unfamiliar with this car, and f***ing sick of working on it in my driveway....not enough time, not enough light....and I'm two bolts away from being done!!!! end rant.

The problem I am having is getting the exhaust to bolt to the catalytic. I need some play in the exhaust, I've got nothing to work with. The drivers hardware is froze up really hard...I think If I got that lose I could push the exhaust rearward just about a 1/2" would probably get it. I need the flange piece to slide over the stud (the other stud was replaced with a bolt). Not sure if the whole exhaust is magnaflow or just the mufflers.

**** has me so ill.

I went back down....I'm almost there. Busting the driverside loose at the Cat flange made all the difference in the world.. I guess that PB Blaster had to soak in for about 20 minutes...Just got to find the one nut that got displaced when I started kicking and throwing **** (prior to previous post).

Yes, I'm a thrower. Might sound like a twelve year old but it helps me get by!

Its so frustrating, how tight everything is...I put the cat on about 5 different times tonight...then I had to take it off again to plug in the forward O2 sensor plug. Really GM?!?!? You could'nt make the vehicle harness have like 2 inches of slack...Cheese and rice....

Almost there..... Serenity Now!!!

Don't post angry. Penetrating fluid can take hours. Spray it the day before a few times whenever possible. You'll get it
