Default Anyone have to replace their V1 clutch return spring?

Just finished up the LS7 clutch swap and went to bleed the clutch when the return spring broke into several pieces. Anyone else have this issue and had to fix this?

You don't need the spring. I lost my spring 4 months ago.

The dealer replaced mine about 5 years ago. The dealer way is to replace the entire pedal assembly and is a huge pain in the butt. My new one broke within a month and I've gone without it for 5 years. It's really not necessary.

well dam guess I may not need it then. just used to the pedal coming back a little quicker and having some resistance.

Found this piece of spring on my floormat about seven or eight years ago. (Put the penny there to gauge size.) Dealer replaced entire pedal assembly, and as 07CTS-V said, it's a real PITA to do.

Is it absolutely necessary to have this spring? I dunno ... it didn't seem to change the clutch effort either way.

looks like you might still have the other part of the spring up there.

I swapped a C5 spring into my father's C6 to improve the pedal feel. Removing the old spring and installing the new one was pretty easy, once you're contorted down under the dash with a flashlight and a long pair of needle nose pliers. I would imagine the process for our spring in the V is very similar based on the nearly identical spring design.
