Cooking clutch fluid
#21
Ya I'm gonna try bleeding it once I put the PMC on. I've got the car parked until I can get the time to work on it. I was under the assumption that sucking it out of the master and refilling/repeating a few times was pretty much the same thing. Now I just kinda feel like an idiot lol, I'm sure thats all it needs and the PMC will definitely be a nice little upgrade too.

Well my PMC came in and finally got a chance to work on the car a bit today. So I was wrong when I thought the clutch fluid was burning. Turns out I have an oil leak somewhere on top of the bellhousing and its running down the sides onto the headers. The oil pressure sending unit seems to be the main focus of the oil from what I can see. The connector was absolutely covered in oil. It has always read 130psi since I bought the car so it needed replacement anyway, but could that even be the source or should I keep looking elsewhere. Searched around and haven't seen any instances where anyone else has had a leak there.

The oil pressure sending unit is a known problem on the LS motors.
I popped those things like corn.

Haha after about 2 years of owning this car, I've lost count how many times I've heard the phrase "known problem". Is there a certain brand I should look for? I'd like to be able to get it today which would mean either Autozone or Oreilys.

So I got the new PMC in, goes through gears great. I did notice the pedal is quite stiffer than it was and has a shorter travel. I don't necessarily hate it but it will take some getting used to. Has this been the experience of anyone else with this?

Damn wish you would have chimed in about the fluid earlier. I will try it once the weather warms up a bit here as Im sure It will help when the temps get over 100 this summer. I haven't put a whole lot of miles on the car, but I am very satisfied so far. So far it seems to have fixed my issues but then again just bleeding the system might have helped, either way its a good piece of mind upgrade. I appreciate all the replies, thanks.

Went to start the car today and it turned over for a second and then nothing. Everything works fine but when you go to turn the key it doesn't do anything. I figured the starter was toast but I pulled the relay and jumped it and she fired right up. So my next guess is the clutch safety switch. I did somewhat split it when I replaced the MC but It was working fine so I didn't really think twice about it. Is there a way to bypass it so I can tell for sure before just throwing money at it.

Well I zip tied the switch in the closed position and the car still wont start. Checked all the fuses and everything looks fine. I'm not getting any power from the ignition switch side of the starter.

Pulled the pcm out and checked the ignition voltage. I'm getting voltage from the ignition switch to the pcm but nothing going out to the relay. So either the pcm is bad or something is triggering it from allowing voltage to the relay?
