yeah. wasn't referring to the V. Was referring to the lack of energy it took to bend the V at the c pillar. In relation to the fact that the merc (Mercedes) air bag did not deploy.

Seems like in order to bend the V in that manner it would have been a hard enough hit for the merc to deploy its airbags. Or....The V is terribly engineered and just over all weak in the ****.

I'm pretty sure that's fixable. I got hit way worse than that. They put 12.5k into fixing mine. Lucky it was so low mileage. That looks like 3-4k tops.

Its all fixable....

Is the roof or the floorpan creased? Wonder if a set of subframe connectors would have helped here? Take a hose to the sunroof and make sure it didn't move some how...been there done that.

Well yeah, identifying all of the damage is key in any accident.

I'd fix it if it was mine, find a top notch shop with a good frame machine guy and be on the road in no time. Exspecially seeing as you put all that work into this one.

The mercedes crash quality is top of the class. I think there is more hidden damage on that car than you think...I assume he was still driving a quite a bit of speed when he hit you 30+mph

Now way was it 30 mph.

Maybe 15. That video is at 24/25 mph and look at both the merc's damage and the malibu. Laygo's V maybe bent but not like that malibu. And the damage to the merc didn't affect it's hood. Looks more like the 12 mph hit.

Plus, that merc may very well have had the auto brake help.

At any rate, my point was how easily the V bent. Not that the merc was some fortress.

After watching the video though even at 25 mph no airbag deploy is pretty impressive.

Dropped it off at the shop today. Got an awesome Chrysler 200. :-|

Speaking to the estimator, he said the rear is actually made to crumple like that to protect the occupants, but wasn't worried when I asked him about it possibly totaling it. He said they would do a unibody pull to straighten the frame out & relieve the stress at the C pillars & then repair whatever damage remained.

We shall see.

Man that sucks. I thought I was pissed when mine got backed into at work. Hope you get it fixed. On a positive note, I really like your sts wheels.

Well, **** ****!

Progressive's adjuster was at the car & was wanting to know what customizations were done because it's borderline total. Without the customizations, a likely total, they'll evaluate the costs of the customizations to determine if it's still a total. They'll let me know later today . . .
