In short, no.
The 1st gen CTS hasn't held up well to time. Every time I fix something, another part is causing problems. I'm right in GM's fix-it sweet spot at 137k.
Coilovers are not an inexpensive mod. If you're looking for inexpensive, either get a set of eibach/H&R drop springs or for even cheaper cut a top coil off the springs. Lowering does help the looks of the car. That paired with some non-chrome wheels could be ok as long as they're fitted well and not cheap off-the-shelf variants. You can always sell the wheels later provided they're in good shape.

You really have a hard on for this search **** huh? No one wants 10 year old information, might as well just lock the new thread option since everything is already here.

Answer me this batman, does my hard on for searches come into threads that are genuinely new ideas/predicaments/mods? Huh.

Coming from a first gen v6 and into a V, I'd say the V6 isn't worth attempting the modifications on. Although some parts you can bring over with you, its best to not waste your money and keep it in stock trim. If what you want is a V, sell the V6 and find one. They're not insanely expensive if you keep your eyes open.

I think he just wanted some mods to improve his asthetics not the power. which is just as doable with the v1.
even if he wanted to make his car faster thats also doable as a few of the fastest 1st gen cts chassis cars have been some of the turbo v6 non v vehicles.
