Show me one claim where any German manufacturer touts reliability. BMW doesn't tout reliability, the basis of their advertising is the ultimate driving experience.

In all my years of turning wrenches German vehicles as a whole are the absolute worst, hands down.

Hell, when I worked for CARMAX the buying staff had to tack on additional funds to get them through the 30 day warranty period, they're that bad. These were the 5 worst cars as observed by my experience with expensive repetitive repairs and getting towed in:

1. VW
2. Audi (note Audi and VW did not even honor warranty claims)
3. BMW
4. Mitsubishi
5. Mazda

It doesn't feel like that. I've filled it up several times with the low fuel level indicator on & needle on E & put in like 16.5 gals. If it's got another 1.5 gals, it has me fool.

That's normal and expected with most cars. Our V1's are the exception where the second that F'in message comes up on the DIC there is literally only 1-1.5 gallons left at that moment.

I recently quit but I worked for a shop that specialized in European auto repair and reconditioned used cars for multiple European dealerships up the road. Did it for 3 years. All the cars we did for the dealerships were either trade in or auction cars with less than 75k miles. Majority of the cars were BMW, Mercedes, VW, Audi, Saab, Lexus, and acuras. As for the bmw " reliability " everyone likes to throw around, it s bullshit. Once they'd hit 50k-60k miles, they came in with tons of problems. Seems like they wait til warranty is up lol. Sometimes they'd be in sooner but 50k-60k miles is where the repairs start hitting the wallet hard. Oil leaks are the biggest issues. we had a lot of injector issues also. Vanos problems on the 6 Cyl. All in all , every car has its problems. Both of the cars you're are looking at are great cars. If you plan on keeping both cars longer than 60k miles, I'd go for the cts v. As for resale value, cts v2 holds its value just like a bmw. Atleast in my area.
