What to do with this car???
So my 05 CTS-V needs a motor. At this point it is not driveable and just sitting in my driveway. The 30,000 dollar question is, what the heck do I do with this car. I upgraded to a 08 Z06 for my toy get around town car. The only problem is the V would take a back seat to the Z06 in getting taken care of. With the way LS7's are dropping valves its getting heads this winter, and we will see whats left of the budget.
Options are as follows:
Put a Iron block 6.0 the heads and cam that I had for it in that motor and run it like we stole it.
Build a monster motor, monster auto trans, monster rear end (solid axle) tub that thing out and make it a drag car.
Sell it as is?

this is non-trivial. The Gen1s are junk. to even think this is insane...
Id turf it..
Or as DMM suggests... put a SIMPLE motor in it so the thing is drivable.. sell it.

The other problem is the vehicle is a reconstruct. I have had offers of 6k for it as is.
Its sitting there in my driveway pouting, and I feel bad. Its a really good looking car the body is perfect and was painted last year.
There are 2 other ones in town.

I would have to look at the cost of installing an engine the same as paying someone else to do it. Even though I own my own auto repair shop I never have any free time. So if I am to do anything to the car its at a 100 bucks an hour.
I have plenty of cars to flip just no time to do it.

i hate to say it cause i love the v1's but i would take the 6k for it sans motor and roll it into the vette. putting a lot of money in a 10yr old car is useless unless your going to keep it for a long time and enjoy it.

With all the weak links I would never build one of these cars. But I would not take a loss on a car that I could fairly easily put an engine into. Are the heads still good on the old engine? 5.7 short block should be pretty cheap.

Stick an lq9 in it...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/03-CADILLAC-ESCALADE-ENGINE-6-0L-VIN-N-8TH-DIGIT-1881609-/381116556165?hash=item58bc512385&vxp=mtr
stock ls6 intake, valley cover, maybe stick the cam in it to help keep the tune happy...should be a plug and play except for the need to make adapter plates for the block. Probably wouldn't even need a tune.
V1 junk? WTF are you wanting to do with the car? I've got less than 15k tied up in mine and I can't really think of another 4 door sedan I'd care to own in that price range.
A v1 with an lq9 for under 10K would make an awesome beater.

hmm where to start...
Motor mounts, trans mount, diff bushing, Clutch clunk, driveshaft bobble, amazing wheelhop, shifter slop, radio button paint peeling, shifter bezel paint scratc, Terrible NAV radio, rear D pillar sail panels falling off, squeaky console, shock bushings pushing out, trunk gas props failing, Terminal axle whine, 6 lug wheels....so much more to list.
With all that being said Most are fixable and I love my car

Well some times things just work out, I just ran across a LQ4 with 8k miles on it for 1000 bucks. And I have a guy working for me now so Ill just pay him to do it.
Guy who says 5.3/4l60 I just got the woman a 99 z28 for 1500 bucks that had no reverse 2nd or 4th gear. 400 bucks in to the trans for new sun shell, shift kit, paper rubber kit, and clutch kit she is rocking and rolling!!!
