Tail Light Issue.....

my wifes cts keeps burning out the brake lite bulb, is that common?

she must be riding the brakes or your using cheap bulbs

Are the lights sealed properly? Any moisture in there?

Try conductive grease next time and use gloves when touching the bulb. Not usually a concern for basic (non headlight) bulbs but I'd try it anyway.
