The plastic ring that goes around the ignition key with the release button.

I have yet to do the recall but I'm guessing thats what the fix is?

When you figure it out let me know! I need a new one of those. Mine both rubber ears are broke off.

Nope. The recall fix is simply putting a stupid piece of plastic in your key so that it centers the key chain, reducing its inertia and helping to not turn the key to Acc/Off.

For future reference, you didn't have to do that. The CTS/CTS-V manual and all user-created guides dating back to 03-04 instruct you to remove the lower and then upper pieces of the plastic bezel to access the steering column.

They snap together. The trickiest part is knowing that there's an inverted Torx E5 or E7 (I forget--I'd have to check my notes) on the right side of the column needed to get the upper half off.

You almost have to pop it off to get the lower clam shell off.

Pop the button out, put a rag and a socket on it, and tap the bitch into place.
