Opinions needed: May move to Ontario
Need some optinions here on what options I may have. I currently live in BC, no emissions. My car is dyno tune, no cats, and has a 224/224 112 cam.
I am pretty sure that if I brought my car back with me, depending on where I go, it won't pass emissions. Also, I believe Ontario also has a "saftey" check that has to be done prior to registration. If I don't have cats I autmatically fail.
So, do I bring my car with all the headaches??? Or sell before moving??? Trade it in on something???? The other thing I thought was to take my motor get it stroked/bored.....get cats and have it tuned to be emissions legal.
Any opinions would be great.
Thx

If youre moving near where i live (North Bay Ontario) you dont need to worry about emissions. I was running 228/232 110lsa cam in my old camaro with Longtubes, gutted cats, and corsa catback. Nothing to worry about with the safety either, toss some cats on there and get er saftied and then remove em. We safety a lot of cars at our dealership.

I got the same question, but Im bringin a 450rwhp fbody up to BC from the U.S., i gotta pass safety inspection within 45 days, and they said i dont need to do aircare/emissions for a full year. So i gotta figure out how the hell i pass safety inspection with dumped true duals, i need a hookup. Aircare will be even more of a bitch but insurance company said i get a year before i have to do that. I need help, anyone in BC area has any hookups for safety inspections and/or aircare/emssions??? Thanks cant wait to be an owner of my longtime dream caar.

you don't need cats to pass either a safety or emissions test. That being said you'll have a very difficult if not impossible time passing the drive clean without cats. They dropped the visiual check a few years ago but they check for them at road side inspections. The fine for no cats was $385 in 2000, it could only have gone up from there
As for the tune it won't matter, the only thing that gets turned off usually is the rear o2 sensor codes. putting a cat on will change nothing
