LSX 376 HP increase help
I'm replacing the small block 350 in a '63 Impala. I want to go with a LS carburated engine. I'm looking for over 500 HP minimum and the LSX 454 seems pricey. What will it take to get more HP out of the LSX 376 and what about the LS 376 515 HP when compared to the LSX 376. I'm a newbie, so I need all the help I can get.

Should not be difficult without having to use an LSX block. My setup is just a stroked 364 aluminum block and with a vic or super vic, matching cam and no cats I expect 530+rwhp would be doable pretty easy. Even the best flowing plastic IM's choke these motors so you are lucky to be able to fit a better one. My ported FAST 90 IM prolly flows 275-280cfm or so but my heads go 320+ so where do you think my HP killer is....
If you want an iron 364 look at LQ4/LQ9's.... They are much cheaper than the aluminum blocks with about a 75lb. penalty...

I have a stock LS1 in my '64 Chevelle wagon with an auto. I'm looking to get as much bang for the buck with a carb and a stick in this car. I'm going to run the MSD controller and would prefer to buy an engine already assembled. The LSX 376 caught my eye, but seems to need a cam and heads milled to get the compression up. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks 4 the help. I just wish the LSX 376 came with 10.5 to 1 compression, and a big cam. I think its a good deal around $5400. I will still have to change oil pans with a LS 376 515. Once again thanks.

I made 440 at the wheels, i guess thats around 500-525 at the flywheel. I bought a 6.0 out of a 2000 yukon, the top of the intake was burnt a little. I gave 475 bucks for it, threw the intake and coils in the trash, piced up everything i needed to make it carbed and made it run. I had around 2k in the whole build. So if you had the time to hunt around you may be able to save some $$$ and make the same power you want. Just my input.

Well if I was gonna spend that on a motor I'd buy a custom shortblock with top of the line stuff like forged crank & better rods....that 376Lsx is just a fancy stockish iron truck motor with forged pistons, get alot better motor from some of this websites sponsors for a better price

I have the LSX376 in my 08' vette, only pushing 753rwhp right now "fuel system issues ATM". you can make 500rwhp very easily in it. Not sure why you would want it if you are not planning on super\turboing it.. Just drop a nice size cam in it, headers.. should be gtg..

Why spend $5899 plus shipping for this
http://www.jegs.com/i/GM+Performance...71049/10002/-1
When U could spend $3599 for this if u wanna stick with a Iron block?
https://ls1tech.com/forums/sponsor-s...er-3599-a.html
Slap some L92 heads and good to go with alot better and tougher parts, plus alot of the sponsors can custom make what u want like Im gonna do down the road

This comes first and horsepower comes later. Let me know. I'm doing a LSX376 to 62 frame.
