Default MSD 6012 Cam Sensor Harness v. GM Cam Sensor - won't plug in?!

Hey Guys,

Odd issue here - wiring my MSD box to my 2008 LY6 set-up and I noticed that I cannot plug in the cam sensor harness to the GM Cam sensor. The connector does not have the correct "detenting" for lack of a better word and I cannot plug her in.

Its a 2006 GTO cam sensor and I checked that they are all the same - 2006, 2008, etc...so that shouldn't be an issue.

Anyone else run into this?

Thanks,
Dave

Are you sure you have the correct box for your motor? 6012 = 58x reluctor wheel. I remember having that problem when I tried to hook a 6010 to my motor when I needed the 6012.

Think I figured it out. The genius who assembled the harness at MSD put the wrong weatherpak connector on the cam sensor plug. I looked at the map sensor plug and wouldn't you know it...it had EXACTLY the plug I needed...

Thanks guys,
Dave

Back from the dead.....ran into the same prob as the OP and msd told me to cut the plug for the key way on the harness side....so it fits into the cam sensor ....what you think...

FYI, they apparently still haven't figured it out. Went to plug the 6012 harness into the cam sensor ( new one from Texas Speed) and it wouldn't fit. The sensor has a locating / guiding strip and no allowance in the new plug. I removed the connectors from the old terminal and then switched the wires. Fits fine, but now I've got the same issue with the map sensor terminal. Back to the drawing board.

For the cam sensor you need the cam sensor extention harness and it plugs right in
