Default LS-1 Water jackets What do I plug them with?

I'v got an 02 LS-1 and there is a hole on the exhaust side of each cylinder head that goes into the water jacket, in front of the header on one side and behind it on the other. I'v been trying to find something to plug them with, but cannot figure out what size thread it is. I'v tried 10mm, which was too small, 12mm was too big, and 1/4" pipe thread didn't fit either. I'm not even sure what came in those holes from the factory. Has anyone else run into this?
