Default Carbed 6.0 cam question for a full size 4x4 toy...

I am building a 1980 short wide Chevy 4x4. For a drivetrain it is a 05 lq4 that I completely rebuilt with new bearings, rings, ect ect. It has heads shaved 30, lunatic gold dual spring kit, and an edelbrock dual quad rpm air gap with twin 500 cfm edelbrocks.

Has a sm-465 granny 4 speed with np205 transfercase, 3.73 gears and 35" boggers for now. Obviously I want killed power over entire rpm. Help me out guys!

Most of the Dyno tests I have seen on 220 @ .050" sized cams have excellent power improvement over the entire power range. That is what I would be looking at for your application.

I knew I needed to stay in the mid 220s but I keep hearing that I need to have a really low lobe sep like 110 or lower minimum. I'm not sure if that will be the same with a lower rpm setup. If not then its easy to find stuff from like a tr224 to tr228 cams used.

If I recall, the dual 4 intake is a dual plane. And, you have a stick shift. So, I would say you do not need an especially tight lobe separation. 112 would be fine, but I would not rule out a good deal on a 110 or 114. On a small cam with a dual plane intake, your combo should be very forgiving of the LSA. I like a 220 or 224 for your application.

What kind of hp and tq do you think a lq4 with 30 off the heads would make with the dual quad setup and say a 226 cam with good tune.

Also. Will I need to fly cut the pistons with a 220s to 230 duration cam?
