Most people are using the stock LS7 lifters. Most newer LS series motors came from the factory with them. And from what I understand you use a non DOD valley cover, regular lifters and the correct length push rods for your new cam. Hope this helps, Eric L

as far as i know the lifters are different? they got an external spring, so i need to make sure that its right, and I have no idea about the valley tray.

Yes, sorry I wasnt clear. The lifters ARE differant. LS7 lifters are stock replacement now, but not in DOD motors. Sorry for the confusion. You will also need a regular valley cover. Aftermarket push rods would be my recomendation for an aftermarket cam with higher spring pressures. Hope this helps, Eric L

Yes change the lifters,I used LS7 lifters,LS2 valley cover on my LH6,The pushrods are the same as non DOD engines. The thread doesnt say if this is a engine swap,What is the 5.3 going in?If you have to change the oil pan,you will also have to use a non DOD oil pump.Depends on what your plans are,but i have experenced what your doing.I got my information here, but was LS2 forums where i got part#s-search dod delete,Your engine is based on a LS2 rather than LS1,Our blocks have oil passages in the valley, and thats why the LS2 valley cover has to be used, the cover has block offs for them,Like you will learn.most tap them and plug them,I didnt just used the cover(o-rings)

Is your engine 24x or 58x??If its 58x you will have to get a LS7 cam sprocket to use a 3 hole cam,and get rid of the prone for breaking timeing chain dampner,by useing a LS2 dampner,As for the lifters being different,so are the lifter holders
