Default New best for my cam only carbed lq9

Took my car to Memphis International Raceway tonight. Made 8 passes some on motor and some spray. Best motor pass was a 7.07@97 and 11.17@119 with a 1.57 60ft. Sprayed it 150 and it went 6.58@107 and 10.37@120 with a 1.56 60ft hitting the rev limiter on the big end. Engine specs as follows:

2004 lq9
stock bottom end with arp rod bolts
tsp tsunami cam
gmpp single plane
750 mighty demon
th350 with 4k stall
9" rear with 4.30
275/60/15 m/t drag radials

Timeslips below. I was car 49. Videos on the bottom.

Yea hits the rev limiter before the 1/4 mark. The car is geared for 1/8th mile cause this track was closed when I put in the rear end.

Yea, was goin to comment on the mph issue. Damn good, but the top end is just there for improvement with more gear.

Yea I put the 4.30s in because I have only raced 1/8 mile until this time. The local tracks are all 1/8 and this track just opened up last fall and is a 1/4. I will eventually swap gears and pick up a second center section to have for both.

Where is your limiter set? I guess that stall is still fairly loose at the top end, but 4.30 gears with a 28" tire should be somewhere near 6,200 RPM. That's kind of low for your combo. Raise it to 7,000 or so and you're in business.

Limiter is set at 7000 already. Think it is slip from the stall added from the nitrous. It does have a balloon plate in it. It is a ptc pro race converter.

Gotcha, figured that 4,000 would have a little slip up top, but almost 1,000 rpm isn't what I was expecting.

Great job man! I'm also curious about the vehicle weight? Also I see your 60' was the same both on and off the spray. How are you bringing it in? Delayed? Progressed? Thanks man......again....great passes for a cam only set up!

Car weighs 3300 with me in it. I was leaving off footbrake at 2k rpms. I am using a zex window switch that sprays 100% from 4300-6600 rpms. I cannot figure out why the car won't 60 foot better. 1.55 is the best it has ever done and that was on spray. Normally on motor it goes around 1.60 range. The go pro vids are in the process of loading onto youtube. I will post them when they are done.

I agree it seems to slip more than others. It is custom specced to my setup. I called and gave them all my info and this is the converter they sent. Talked to Kenny Ford himself at PTC. The converter has excellent street manners as I drive this car to work a few days a week and cruise town every weekend.

Hell.....I don't know.....1.5X seems like a pretty good 60' for a cam only, 3300lb car with a 4000 stall. I've got a 3500lb race weight and a 5k converter and I only go high 1.6's.

Does your converter flash all the way to 4K when you come off the foot brake? I'm gonna guess that you've probably rolled through a significant part of (if not all of) the 60' before you hit your 4300 nitrous window. In your above slips you didn't pick up in the 60 but you gained .3 in the 330'. I would drop your window switch down to 3000 if the track will hold it. I'll bet she'll 60' then!

I will try that next time it goes to the track. The prep is usually real good and the car hooks good with its current suspension setup. It will flash to 4k off the footbrake.

Evans is your car setup as in drag springs, shocks etc.... I have a lq4 going together and I am looking for about the same times out of it but I didnt want to full bore drag racing setup. I think those are great times for your car especially cam only.

That's great for cam only. No head work? stock valve springs? wow.

3,300 with you - must mean car alone 3,1??? wow again. Is the car gutted? interior? Yours and mine are the same chassis and I thought mine was light at 3250

I added videos now. Cam is a 235/240 647/609 on 111lsa. I have double springs and hardened pushrods. Heads are completely stock. No porting. Car has no a/c, p/s, heat, radio, or inner fenders. I also had the passenger seat removed. The car still has all steel panels including hood as well. Suspension setup consists of stock v6 springs all around, summit brand 90/10s shocks on the front and summit brand 50/50 shocks on the rear. It has umi tubular rear control arms and a umi rear sway bar. Weighed the car at the track and it weighed 3300 with me, so 3150 with 5 gallons of gas. The car is a 100% street car that I drive 2-3 days a week year round. I put 3500 miles on this setup in the past year.

Does it have 317 heads? Have they been milled any?

Thanks
