Default quick question bout 6010 and wiring with NO progressive for tach output

Hey guys,

im wiring up my Nitrous Outlet progressive controller, and im using the msd 6010 controller, and for the life of me i cannot remember what the tach output signal is on msd, is it like factory coil output or what.

the options in programming my progressive go as follows:

5:0.0 - individual coil per cylinder systems where the tach wire is connected to coil trigger wire.

5:0.2 - cylinder combinations from 2-12 where the tach wire is connected to the tach signal via the engine electronic controller or distributor.

there is a note on the bottom of the page saying ls1 vehicles connecting to the tach wire at the pcm will use 004, and if connecting at coil pack use 000.

im not sure which applies to me since yes im using factory ls1 coil setup, but also is being controlled by msd 6010, and for the life of me cannot remember what settings i had put into my autometer tach to get it to work properly, and dont feel like pulling entire dash apart.

thanks,

Nick

no problem, i have that diagram, and have spliced into the tach *yellow* wire on that wiring diagram, its all wired now, im just confused at the programming aspects of the controller, and un sure what the msd uses for tach output signal, if its like factory, then my setting would be 004 per the progressive controller instructions. Thanks for trying to help tho.

The yellow tach output is a regular hit per cylinder, the same you get from typical old V8 output. Worked great for my window switch for nitrous, came on at XXXX RPM and off at XXXX RPM.

gotcha, so with that being said, the first option of 5:0.0 would be the correct one?

If what you state above is right, the 5:0.2 would be it, as if off a regular distributor.
