Will I be better off with LS1 or LQ4? I thought I had made my mind up to do a LQ4. My goal is to run 6.50's 1/8 mile. Using Nitrous is fine. Going in a 3100lb fox body mustang.
Reason I'm asking is I'm having trouble finding a good LQ4 in my area. Everyone wants 1250-1500 for one with 150K miles on it. I did find a LY6 for 1750 with 80k miles.
I can buy a LS1 with 89k miles for 1500.
what should I do?

Where you at? I picked up an LQ4 with 4L80E tranny that I saw driving before it was pulled for $800. I also got a complete 5.3 and I mean everything except the ecm for $250. Craigslist is the best I must say.

Where are you at? Car-part.com, Craigslist, hell even eBay have some deals. I have bought three LQ4's over the years. First one was an 07 model out of a H2 with 37K on it for $1650. Second was 06 model from 2500 truck, 100K miles but looked GOOD on inside for $700 and last I picked up two weeks ago. 02 model from 2500 truck 80K miles for $900. Ive missed out on some $500 dollar ones along the way.

Have you searched Craigslist in those areas? Go to Tempest search and set a search radius for yourself. It searches C-list and Ebay. I know alot of those guys around southern TN and Northern Alabama run 6.0's in there rockcrawlers and there all the time finding good deals on em.

Here's what I've come up with. For the same money I can choose either a cam only LY6 or a LS1 with cam and PRC Stage 2.5 5.3L heads. Which do you think would go faster?
