Moved back to east coast - new best runs for the Camaro
The Camaro has been on the back burner for most of the spring and summer because I've had a lot of work related stuff going on. This included moving my family and entire household from Arizona to Virgina. But now all that stuff is mostly behind me and we're all settled into our new house. So Friday night I was able to take the Camaro out to MIR for some passes. The weather wasn't great (hot and humid), but it was still the best air the car has ran in to date due to the low track elevation.
For some reason the trans brake was acting up (still have to figure out why) so I decided to footbrake the car all night. I'm not sure if the 60' times would have been any better off the trans brake or not but my 60's were on par with what it typically 60'd at higher elevations (1.64-1.67). Since it was a braket race I didn't make any tune up changes during qualification or competition but I'm sure there's some power left in it with some tuning for this tracks elevation. The MPH and ET both seemed just a little off for the DA ranging from 1400 - 1600ft througout the evening.
My new best was an 11.35@118.14 with a 1.64 60'. I also had two 11.38's @ 118.12 and 118.18 with 1.65 and 1.67 60' times. I went out in the 2nd round of competition in an extremely close race with a Malibu wagon. Here's how it went down: I dialed 11.34 and my opponent dialed 11.41 so it was nearly a heads up race from the start. I cut a .011 light and he cut a .012. He ran .02 over his dial and I ran .04 over mine. It was a great race with him winning by just two hundredths of a second. It was a blast!
Here's a few vids of my best three passes. They're a little shaky so be warned. The last vid is of my loss to the Malibu:

Thanks Doug. Some negative DA would be great but for now I'm just thrilled to be back in the land of "reasonable" DA.....LOL.
Thanks man......and yes, definately a long move. But it's good to be back closer to home. I see you're from Pittsburg. I grew up 90 miles north of there.
Thanks Eric......it has come a long way but still has a long way to go! But at least I'm at the fun part now! A 9 inch and nitrous are next.
Yeah it actually puts a few inches of air under both front tires and carries them out about a foot when you slow down the video and watch frame by frame. I can't wait to see how it comes out on the spray! To answer your question though, I just have the cheap Competition Engineering 3-way adjustables. I have them adjusted to 80/20 because it would hit the top of the suspension too hard/quickly at 90/10 and would start to try and unload the rear tires. I'm also running Moroso Trick Springs and have done a few other tricks to the front suspension to round things out and work the way it does.
EDIT: Here's a short slow-motion video of a launch from the near lane earlier in the night. This was an 11.41 with a 1.66 60'. It's kinda low quality though because it's a phone video of me running frame by frame on my computer. Didn't know how else to do it.....LOL.

Thanks man. My previous best was an 11.54 through full exhaust in 3200ft air and 11.51 with open headers in 4300ft air. All the passes Friday were made through full exhaust so the 11.54 is the apples to apples number even though it was run in great air (for Tucson).

Yeah that's great! You've got 200lbs on me. Mine is 3500lbs race weight. I havent bought the kit yet but the plan is for a Big Shot Plate. I want something I can grow into when things get buck wild.....LOL. I'll be starting out with a conservative 100 shot though since they can be jetted down. They just don't come with the smaller jets.

I'll end up with a progressive eventually but in the beginning I want to test the limits of my suspension by seeing how much she'll hook with right outta the dig. Once that limits met....i'll move on if its still holding together. But that's why the 9 inch is first on my list. Hey, at least you have bolt-in axles......does that make you feel any better?......LOL!

My left front caliper drags and wears down that pad and rotor super fast. I have to find that problem.
I have to put my rear pinion angle back to 2 degrees. I was playing with it to get rid of a vibration while cruising at 70 MPH on the highway. Turns out it was the driveshaft.
I have to do a lot of wiring. As you know, these old cars do not exactly have a generous fuse box. So, I need to install an auxiliary fuse box so I can wire the nitrous, lock up torque converter, cooling fan and fuel pump properly.
I have to advance the cam 3 degrees. It was on a 109 ICL and I moved it back to 110 ICL. The car lost about 10 HP or so. So, I am going to set it to 107 or 108 ICL. It should pick up slightly I think.
Then I can finish sorting out the nitrous.
