No you will need the MSD 6012 which is for the gen iv motors. No extension harness it is for using fuel injection.

but he says his motor has the 24tooth reluctor wheel and not the 58. so the 6012 box will not work for him even though he has an ls2. so he would need the harness from the 6012 or an extension harness for the cam sensor.

You are correct that your engine requires the MSD 6010. Several of the early Gen lV engines had 24X reluctors. I have a 24X LS2 and a friend has a Gen lV 5.3 aluminum block 24X. That said... you need to do 2 things to make it work. You have to extend the wires on the MSD cam sensor plug by about 3 ft. and you need to switch the 2 outside wires in the plug.r If you look at the plug, these are labeled A and C. The easiest way is to just switch them when you're extending them. After you do this, the plug will plug in to the sensor in the front cover. If you don't switch the wires, the engine will most likely just backfire through the carb. Ask me how I know...LOL.

By the way, the "extension harness" MSD sells isn't an extension, it is a compeltely separate harness used when mounting the box on the intake. it is actually shorter than the one that comes with the box.

You have cut and extend the wires if they dont reach, no problems there.

Would a 6012 cable fit a 6010 box? Maybe call MSD and see if they will sell you one if it fits.
