de-pin msd 6ls

no, i have not, but its definetly possible, i would not pull the wires out of the connector, id cut the harness about 10-12'' back from the connector. any wires that are the same color give them a number on either side before you cut, get the same colors and extend them as long as you need. also i would solder and heat shrink, dont crimp might take twice as long but when your done, you'll know for sure your connections will be good forever. what kind of vehicle is it going in!?

Its a GT-150 connector. They are more difficult to de-pin than the old weatherpaks. The locking cap is on the face of the connector and must be unlatched. There is a special tool for it. I destroyed one trying to get it apart. Cutting/lengthening/soldering wires is a viable option

I've never pulled an MSD connector apart but I have pulled plenty of weather pac and deustch connectors. Depinning is massively preferable to cut and splice.
I have a cheap depinning tool I use for molex connectors, but for the ones above typically a small screw driver is all that is needed.n You just need to find the tang and hit it right.

The reason I asked is I made an attempt at depinning it. I was unsuccessful but didn't get get carried away. I didn't want to destroy it. I was trying to avoid a larger hole in the firewall and grommet.

I just used one of these on an existing hole. Cut it out bigger with dremel tool. It was tight going thru, but I made the hole as small as possible. Its mounted under the dash
