Street/strip carb for LQ9
Hey all, weighing up my options right now and have narrowed it down to two carbs.
Quick fuel BDQ-950 with 1.45" venturi, or Holley 850 ultra HP with 1.56" venturi.
As most would know, both carbs use a 1.75" throttle bore size.
Which would you choose and why?
Approx 3000lb race weight, built LQ9 with ported LS3 heads, Vic Jr intake, 4700+ stall etc.

I got a holley 750 from TXsilverado that I haven't even put fuel to yet and it is on my 5.3 stock LM7. being yours is a heavy breather with the heads and intake and I am sure much higher redline than what I plan to, I would go with the larger CFM unit if its available for about the same as the holley. But TXSilverado also just had a quick fuel carb completely redone by them and he likes it. If it weren't for a broken valve spring, he would have pulled even faster times than what he already has with the truck on drag radials. And I do not believe he has done any tuning to it as of yet.

Quick fuels are just very well made Holleys. Lots of guys on here run them, very good carbs. In fact, Holley made the HP so adjustable in part because of companies like Quick Fuel forcing them to upgrade their product line.

I have a Holley 950 ultra hp and love it. I had a 750 Quick fuel and it was the best carb i ever had. Till I got this Holley. Yes, the Holley needed work and still does, but I love some of the features of the new ultra hp. i can just move my link from progressive, to 1-1 and picked up et, and it was as easy as moving the adj link.

I have always liked the Quick Fuels. And, they have all the right features for fine tuning. It is my carb of choice these days.

Yeah I am thinking quick fuel as well, and I will just tweak it myself.
I had a 750HP once that worked great which was setup by the previous owner, I remember changing the jets and discovering it had a 50cc pump on the front and possibly the bigger base plate (can't recall) but I can't be bothered with having to experiment, when these days you can buy a good off the shelf carb that will only require a minor jet or air bleed adjustment to suit conditions.
Cheers!
